Which spot on the star does the pin in the second picture fit into?

Re: windshield washer motor question

I've never had one apart before.

It looks like the black star wheel and the yellow gear are off-axis from each other.

In which case, I would bet the yellow gear pin fits in the elongated slot of the black star wheel, allowing the pin to move whilst rotating off-axis.

Failing an off-axis issue, it could just be manufacturing tolerances that require an elongated slot.

That's my best guess.

Re: windshield washer motor question

That washer pump should have a alignment hole through the steel face and through the black cam.

Remove the black plastic face cover and you should see a 1/16 hole at the 8:00 position. Line that hole up with the hole in the black cam and push in a drill bit, punch etc.
Now the black cam should line up with the post on the wiper motor gear and let you bolt things up.
Then remove the alignment pin and replace the front plastic cover.
