Bed Locating Tabs

I've had quite a few people inquiring about these after I posted pics of them on my build thread and finally have a machine shop lined up to make them. The more interest I can get in them, the more I can have made at one time and get better quantity discounts, which will lead to a better retail price. For those that are interested in a set, please post a response below or contact me at thegearboxgarage@gmail.com and I will add you to the list of QTY's needed. If a high enough order rate, I can keep the price at approximately $25 a pair, plus shipping, with 2 or more pairs ordered get free shipping.

The ones pictured are out of the first sets that I made for my own truck. The new pieces will have the hole centered in the slot and machined from 6061 Aluminum.

Re: Bed Locating Tabs

Interesting, I pulled my bed off my 72' don't remember seeing any thing like those. Are they installed normally from GM or is this something you came up with to square a bed up?

Re: Bed Locating Tabs

Disregard, just read your build thread. Awesome truck! Does a truck need 2 or 4 to ensure bed positioning while driving etc...? This is a great idea, thanks for supporting the truck world.

Depends mostly on whether you have a short or long bed. I mostly intended these to be used toward the front, on the bed mount risers, which would be 4 for the short, and 6 for the long. I was also able to fit a pair in the frame rails for the cross sill just behind the wheel well, but I'm not sure if it is an absolute necessary for locating the bed better. They do help square up the bed nice and tight, but the main focus with these is to prevent the bed from shifting forward and leaving dimples in the back of the cab from the front panel bolts.
Selling them by the pair allows each person to order as needed depending on short/long beds or even just one pair to start and then add more later.

I haven't worked on a Blazer, but would be interested in knowing. Do they also have the slotted mounting holes for the tubs? if so, then I would say yes, but not sure how much of a benefit they would provide as the Blazer body being one piece.

88, I have you down. As soon as they are available, I'll send you the PayPal info. I don't like charging people unless my items are ready to ship, it's only fair that way. The machine shop is a couple of weeks out, but I'll keep posting updates for a definite availability date.

Thanks,

Re: Bed Locating Tabs

Put me down for a set. Was the bed purchased aftermarket and how did it fit? Where was it purchased from? I'm thinking of switching my stepper to a fleet side.

I used Goodmark bed sides, wheel tubs and tailgate with Mar-K front panel, cross sills, stainless tailgate links, handle relocator kit, and bed wood. The fit was pretty good, but as with any aftermarket sheet metal, it did need some massaging to get the final fit the way I wanted as far as the bed itself. It lined up with the frame quite well. I believe Southern Kentucky Classics (SOKY Classics) has a "one-part-number" kit with all of the metal parts included.

Re: Bed Locating Tabs

The locating tabs are finally in stock from the machine shop. I'll be packaging them up this week for shipping. For all interested parties, please send me a PM with a ship-to address and we'll get you set up with payment info and delivery. Please also list quantities by the pair; 1 pair, 2 pair, etc. This will ensure you are billed and shipped the proper amount you wish to receive. Price is set at $25 per pair with free shipping on all. Thanks again for all of your interest.
