What am I missing? Steering gear fitting

I have this project I got and the PO said this is a quick ratio gear box , very nice!
I went to put the hose I received with the project and another I have and they seem to bottom out without tightening the hose or steel fitting . Am I missing something?

The fitting on your line is a flare fitting and it looks like the steering box uses an "O" ring fitting.... You can get adapters for it.

They look like this. If you can't find them local, they have them on ebay.

Uses the same adapter. The other one has a check valve in it, that is why they look different.

Found the fittings on ebay. Seller states that the fittings work with 605 casting units only? I cant find a 605 on my box.
