MSD Fuel Injection?
Been planning on an LS swap, but considering going a simpler route.
Anybody have any experience with MSD's Atomic EFI master kit? Sounds like a simple swap- Yank the carb off, complete EFI sits on the stock manifold. Kit comes with fuel pump, filter, even fuel hose, and the controller. Sure sounds easier than a complete engine swap. Current 350 is healthy. It would be a shame to toss it. Since the kit is "self-tuning", I may swap to Vortec heads simultaneously so the EFI tunes itself to those heads. Am I thinking straight, or truly Stu Pidd? |

Re: MSD Fuel Injection?
I don't advise using it on anything much past a DD say under 400HP otherwise its a bear to tune it over the 400HP mark.

Re: MSD Fuel Injection?
if i had my pick of what is out there, i would go with the holley terminator, mostly because you also can unlock the ecu and tune it with a laptop when you decide you want more.
i've done quite a bit of reading on this as of late, and i keep coming back to the holley terminator.

Re: MSD Fuel Injection?
Thanks for the replies.
Not a race car, just an old Chevy truck. No need for a high horsepower engine. Just a nice daily driver, moving tools and materials around. Still doing my research, but one of these FI systems will soon be replacing the carb. |

Re: MSD Fuel Injection?
If I was doing it today I would get the FITECH. Great reviews on the corvette and mustang forums
They offer a kit that allows you to retain your mechanical fuel pump also if that's a big deal too all at about half the $$$ |

Re: MSD Fuel Injection?
Yep, seriously looking at this system as well. A number of guys at the local Auto-X love them. Been getting great reviews and by far the cheapest price on the market. If you're not looking to tweak and tune, is looks like a no brainer.

Re: MSD Fuel Injection?
spent some time looking over the fitech, definitely looks simple and the cost savings is there. i'd like to wait a few more months and see how they are working out.

Re: MSD Fuel Injection?
So I was talking to FiTech last week and got the scoop on a new system that should be out in the next 30-45 days. This will be their Go Street version, which will be selling at $795!!!
What they are doing is using injectors to support up to 400 HP, no timing control (which many of their customers are not using with their higher series units), no boost or nitrous control. It still has the self learning, wide band O2 sensor and much of the same functions that the 600HP unit has. This is going to put a very affordable EFI system in reach to so many folks who thought it would be too expensive. Heck, add their Fuel Command center and you won't need to do any fuel tank mods. I am hoping to get one of the first of the Go Street units! Video they just released - https://youtu.be/LK-qLlGotUU

Re: MSD Fuel Injection?
First thing is you need a computer that supports it.
When I was looking to go EFI it seemed most of the aftermarket did fuel only. I decided to use a home brew system using a microsquirt controller. It does spark control. With a properly tuned HEI, i don't think the computer controlled spark makes much of a difference. The exception would be if you run a knock sensor for detonation control.

Re: MSD Fuel Injection?
I'm interested in knowing if Computer Controlled Spark really makes a difference. Otherwise I'll just wait for the $795 unit.
