Re: K20 w CE1 vin

looks like a body swap to me. The serial plate on the door jam should not be screwed on either, it should have rosette rivets. CE14 is a 1/2 ton 2wd vin

Okay, a vin plate swap which is still illegal in all 50 states

Re: K20 w CE1 vin

So trucks didn't get a hidden VIN stamped on the body?

Not on the body that I know of, I believe the passenger side frame should have a stamp up forward.
This even has the C10 glove box door and colors match up unless he found a twin donor or had a repop sticker made for glove box door

Re: K20 w CE1 vin

Not sure about trucks, but 72 Chevelle frames supposedly had a vin stamp on the frame too. I pulled the body to slide frame under another earlier car. I fully striped, scraped and pressure washed the frame first. I searched the frame with a Highway officer to find this VIN, we couldn't find even a partial VIN anywhere on it.
So I'm guessing that stamping the VIN on the frame was not required back then and depended on the assembly plant.
Just my $.02

Re: K20 w CE1 vin

I just know my Corvettes have the VIN's on the frame, my Camaro has a second VIN under the heater box and my Chevy II had a second VIN near the inner fender lip. My '50 Ford has the identification number stamped on the frame in a couple places.

I should add that I emailed the seller and he claimed ignorance. He said he's selling it for someone else.

It varies a little bit based on model and assembly plant.

For example, 68-72 A bodies do not get a partial VIN on the body (behind the heater box) normally, but vehicles built in Oshawa or Baltimore did.
