changing paint color

I know this is probably a dumb question but I am currently redoing all of the paint on my truck and want to change the color. Im assuming that the registration will have to be changed to match the new color? Has anyone had any problems with this in the past or is there anything that I should be aware of before I proceed. Thanks for any help.

Re: changing paint color

Our state registration paperwork has just about the same information that the title has, no mention of colors. So, no.

Here, too.

No color information on a Michigan registration.

In New York they will bust your chops, my truck was originally blue and now white, had to change that when I bought it. Once I paint it again OD Green, I will have to change it at the dmv so no headaches with the law.

Re: changing paint color

That is insane....I have never heard of a state that is picky on the color. I lived in Illinois, where they look for any and all reasons to ticket you and make a buck off of you and they didn't care. As long as the numbers match why would it matter?

Re: changing paint color

Even if you wrap your car a different color and yes it could peel off, I've seen people get a ticket! Some cops just play it by the book and want to write!

Alabama will get you on color changes..I had a original red blazer that I turned green..went thru a license check with it..I didn't get a ticket but they made a big deal about it.

Re: changing paint color

I'd have every panel a different color just to jack with them. That's government stupidity right there.

Re: changing paint color

I looked at my registration and it does have a color on it. I haven't really found anyone here in Wyoming that has had a problem with the cops because of changing the color. We don't have vehicle inspections here so I might just go in and ask at the licence place and see what they say.
