Picked up a new rig on CL this morning! 1969 C30 Motorhome

I saw this on CL in SD and just had to have it. It's a 1969 C30 Open Road motorhome. 350/th400/4.10's. It's been nicely face lifted inside and is just a solid piece. The PO delivered it 90 miles to my house too! The deck was the selling point I think.

Good thing you saw it first. I don't think I could say no to those flamingos!

CONGRATS - you are sure to enjoy that thing - very good truck under it (even with autotrans), although those Open Road campers were not as nicely finished/well-made as some others of the era. Then again, you never will wear it out. NICE DECK !!!

Now that is neat. Congrats.

My driveway is rather made for another vehicle. I have decided it should be a panel or a Burb but having a motorhome would be pretty cool.

I had a 66 c30 Open Road with the deck. We had a lot of fun with it. Ours had a 283 2 barrel with 4 speed granny!

I saw that on CL! Was hoping a board member would buy it as it is out of my budget for now. At least I get to live (kind of) vicariously through you. Congrats on the buy!

No backup camera needed for this one. Just drop the deck and get a panoramic view of what's behind you!

Re: Picked up a new rig on CL this morning! 1969 C30 Motorhome

Thanks guys! I am happy with it so far. I ended up paying $2,700 after he delivered it for me. Not bad, not great, but fair I think. I will try to upload pictures when I can. The inside is in very good condition. I've been eyeing these beauties for years and thought I'd never find one let alone own one. I've always wanted a burb really bad, but I will get a lot more use out of the motorhome.

I think you made out very well on that deal. Is there a tremendously large hole in the cab to walk back into the camper portion?
And just to reiterate… I think you made out very well on that deal and it was delivered!!

Yes, there is a large hole in the back of the cab large enough to pass through comfortably. It has blazer buckets in it so you can easily go from the drivers seat straight back to the camper.

I also think you did well considering it includes the delivery fee.

Re: Picked up a new rig on CL this morning! 1969 C30 Motorhome

What a score!

Hey, this wouldn't have stumped most people on here; but being a newbie when I bought my 1970 C10 it still had the points distributor; and when I tried to look up the serial number on the distributor I didn't know what I had;

Finally I figured out it was a motorhome chassis distributor that the previous owner had installed.. (photo attached)..

So anyway; in the unlikely event yours still has the original points distributor I would be interested to see a photo of the number on it and if it was the motorhome version or a regular small block chevy truck distributor series.

That piece that the second picture refers to has the total degrees of advance (built-in) stamped into it - so that will be handy information for when you start to tune your new baby...
