Wrinkled Inner Fenders

Need some advice. Is this normal? Can I fix it or should it be replaced?

I ordered new inner fenders from LMCTruck. The drivers side is slick, no issues. The passenger side has some crazy wrinkles in it. Is this normal? Can I fix this? Or should I have it replaced?

Drivers side is fine.....

Re: Wrinkled Inner Fenders

I'm no expert but it seems like if one is smooth, they both should be. That wrinkled one looks pretty bad.

Re: Wrinkled Inner Fenders

Worn out dies, and poor quality control. I think I would send it back with a picture of the good one so they know what your expectations are. Might save a lot of back and forth. I would give a call to customer service before sending it back. Might be ahead returning it and see if you can get a quality one from one of the board venders. I worked at a Navy rework facility and parts like that back in the day were formed with a drop hammer. When the dies were getting worn that is the type of part you would get. Although they may be done with some other method. now. Unacceptable.

Re: Wrinkled Inner Fenders

My passenger had a couple wrinkles in it, but nothing like the pics above. I sanded it down and filled it with all metal.

Re: Wrinkled Inner Fenders

I would definitely send that one back. I have a rocker that looks similar unfortunately.

I wouldn't accept that. They may end up sending you a replacement and tell you to keep that one.

Re: Wrinkled Inner Fenders

Thanks everyone. I called LMC and they are sending me a new one. And they are picking the damaged one up. Problem solved.

For anyone rebuilding their truck that is just starting plan in the future. That's something I have learned the most is ordering parts online no matter who it is has problems. UPS damaged parts in transit, lmc manufacturer sent bad part, brothers sent wrong part number, etc etc etc. So when you need something right away, and you jump to rockauto or Amazon for quick shipping, you still may not get it and your SOL...

That's good news. I've dealt with LMC once back in 2003 and they were very responsive when I had an issue.

Re: Wrinkled Inner Fenders

Just got the call from LMC today and they called to tell me it's not cost efficient to pickup the bad fender so it looks like I'm stuck with it. Anybody want this thing?

Re: Wrinkled Inner Fenders

LMC is good for the little odd stuff nobody else has, not so much sheet metal.
Great catalog though.

Ha! Put it in the recycle bin so it goes back to China for another try.

If I needed one, I would use it, but I don't need one. I hope someone will take advantage of your offer.

If you paid for it on your credit card they will stuff it up their arse with a little coaxing.

Re: Wrinkled Inner Fenders

It sounds like you are saying LMC is just saying keep it and not sticking you with having to purchase two. If that's the case I would hang on to it if you planning on building any more of these trucks. That side usually gets corroded because of battery leakage. You could probably use it to help repair one that has corrosion issues.

Re: Wrinkled Inner Fenders

They are sending me a new replacement. I'm stuck with the wrinkled one because they don't want it back. I don't have room to keep it so I would rather just get rid of it. If someone pays shipping they can have it for that. Or if your local to DFW area come get it! Otherwise it's going up on FB Marketplace, those hounds will buy anything lol.
