Find My Shift Boot..

Ordered a shift Boot from LMC, and it doesn't fit, its too round and mine is more square. and the holes dont line up on the round one.
Anyone know where I can find one to fit?
Original is on the right.

Re: Find My Shift Boot..

I may be wrong but as far as I am aware of the shift boots only came round. There were two variations of the boot, one of them being like the new one in your picture. The other being mounted flat to the hump but still round. It appears someone has cut their own hole in the floor and used a nonfactory boot to cover the hole.

I checked GMC Paul's website and they list five different boots.

Re: Find My Shift Boot..

OK, thanks,
Even if it is a non stock boot, I would like to find a replacement.
Or I can make a Custom Leather boot,... Hmmm, might just do that..

Is your trans a NP435? Some Ford sites might have that boot.

Fifth item down on this page:

No picture, $20, says to specify which one you want.

Re: Find My Shift Boot..

GM used the New Process 435 Transmission in limited C20 models, Seems like I have one, and they use a different shift boot.
The shift boot is formed to be taller that the standard 4 speed boot but is formed to fit the floor correctly.
Any Idea where I can find one?
GMC Pauls does not have a picture of the boots available.

Paul Jr frequents this site. Send him a PM and have him look at your picture. He should be able to tell you if they have one.

Yours if not original to your truck. You can clearly see the rough cut some past owner did to open the round hole bigger and square.

Re: Find My Shift Boot..

So looking on the original Build Sheet, the truck came with a M28 HD Trans.
SPID says HD 4 SPD CR Trans
Somewhere it was changed to a NP435.
Still trying to find the original boot for the NP435.

Take a look at the Speedway motors site. They had several square and rectangular Lokar boots shown.

The NP 435 is the close ratio trans. The M20 SM465 is wide ratio trans.

Does your SPID & Build Sheet look like these? If so, your 435 may very well be from the factory. Mine is. I found a boot years ago, for a Ford. Still looking for the site and/or a receipt for you. Hope the new one works out.

Re: Find My Shift Boot..

I know it's late, but I just got my transmission back in and dug out my shift boot. Here are some pics of the correct shift boot for an NP435 transmission. It's not in the best shape, but you get the idea.

I hope it at least helps someone else in the future!
