Question Wiper motor seal

A while back I asked if any of the parts vendors had a rubber type seal instead of the flat tar like one for the wiper motor, and they had said that the flat tar-like one was the only thing that they made back then for the trucks, well I found a picture of what I was talking about. It is number 3 in the picture and it doesn't look real flat to me it looks like it has the lip to go up in the hole in the firewall that the tar seal doesn't seal!!

They began using that photo in 1963, the part # from the GM Master Parts Catalog for that actual part pictured is
3819636
When you find a GM dealer that still has a original part #3819636 they give you a tar seal Exactly like the one we stock.
The picture in the master parts catalog looks exactly like yours shown, and it does appear to be a rubber seal with a raised area in center where it would seal closer to shaft from the picture, but buying a part #3819636 will net you a windshield washer pump tar seal.

Cool, thanks Tim. I wish that some of you parts guys could have this seal reproduced, because I beleive it would seal much better. Paul, did the '63's have two speed motors?

Question Re: Wiper motor seal

Sorry to dig up a old post but my Wiper Seal, under the dash that is between the motor and firewall, is not reusable (broke in about 1,000 bits). Which do I actually need - kind of confused or should I get both? Both of the below are on GMCPaul's 67-72 Wiper Related page.

67-72 Wiper Motor Rubber Seal Part 18904822
1967-72 Truck, Suburban, Blazer, Jimmy & panel truck Rubber wiper motor seal. Seal located in firewall opening for wiper motor Exactly like OEM.. Manufactured from the highest quality MBR/PVC rubber, with antioxidants & UV ray protectors added added for extreme durability. This grommet seals better than the originals, resists oil & sun damage and will not degrade with time. Replace your motor seal to eliminate that irritating leak under your dash when it rains caused from your original becoming cracked and brittle.
Wiper Motor Seal Part 132102
1967-72 Truck, Suburban, Blazer, Jimmy & panel truck fiber reinforced rubberized tar impregnated wiper motor seal. Seal located between firewall and wiper motor. Replace your motor seal to eliminate that irritating leak under your dash when it rains caused from your original becoming cracked and brittle.
I just bought one from classicheartbeat.com (eBay Store) but then I stumbled on GMCPaul's posting... his post below has me concerned about the rubber one I got from classicheartbeat.com and is not what I am actually needing (between motor and firewall under the dash).

Those rubber seals generally crack within the 1st year of use leading to air & water leaks.

Re: Wiper motor seal

actually, I think I now understand it.

Wiper Motor Rubber Seal Part 18904822, this is goes in the cowl area. Under the wiper arm thingy on the shaft of the motor. The one that I have is so hard I did not realize it used to be rubber.

Wiper Motor Seal Part 132102 is what feel apart in a thousand bits.

So... I need both. Also might as well the the motor Mounting Grommets (19979934-2). Those seem kind of OK but might as well replace those too.
