Rounded bed corners

I remember seeing this done somewhere, maybe it was Bam’s build? But anyways here’s how I did it and it came out awesome, in my opinion. With a total cost of 17$ it’s a definite Big Bang low buck project.

Materials needed 1- 1 3/4” tight bend U exhaust pipe, some small scrap sheet metal.
1. Cut U bend exactly in half, this is tough to get square and exactly in half.

2.cut bed rail off 6” back from tailgate. Cut stake pocket 1 3/4 below top of bed rail.

3. Fab a small cap to seal off top of bed post.

4. Fit radius corner to match the bed rails.

Re: Rounded bed corners

5. Cut a piece of sheet to cover the top and grind to fit.

6. Begin again at step 3 this time welding and grinding smooth before placing the next piece.

7. Finish welding and stand back to admire the sleek finished new look of your bed.

8. Start over on the other side.

Re: Rounded bed corners

I didn't do this to mine though I admit I admire it.

May be a crazy question but why doesn't someone do both the front and the rear of the bed rails? Seems like it would be a natural to make it match. Someone will say it would look goofy but to me it's goofy having it on only one end of the bed.

I was looking at the front end of the bed as soon as I finished these. I think it would look weird though, kinda exposes more of the back of the cab.
