SPID blank...

Hi guys. The SPID on my 69 C20 looks to have been faded to nothing over time. Hard to believe that given the great condition of the interior, really. Is there a way to find out which options, paint colors, etc. would have been originally listed? I did look at the back of the seat, and unfortunately the build sheet is not in the springs. The seat has been refoamed/recovered and the carpet replaced, but I don't believe anything else has been done to the interior.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Wes

Re: SPID blank...

Without a good SPID or build sheet or some other original sales/order paperwork, there is no way to tell for sure what your truck came with (in my experience).

I have only seen two other SPID's that were completely blank. They were both in great shape and one was an original owner truck the guy said he got new that way. Quality control wasn't what it is today at some plants.

It really does appear as if it could have been blank from the factory, but I just couldn't fathom that was a possibility. There is absolutely no ghosting, and the VIN is still there in the appropriate box.

Re: SPID blank...

I'm assuming it had options (i.e. most of the VIN is also faded like the rest of the sheet - except for the trailing digits). Is this an Oshawa truck?

It didn't have much - pretty basic truck. 307 with 3 on the tree. It was built in Canada.

Re: SPID blank...

Neither of those would have appeared on the SPID as they were not options (they were standard equipment for a CE VIN truck). Do you know what trim level the truck is or do you have any pictures of it and the interior?

Sure thing. Here are a few. If there's anything specific you are looking for let me know and I can snap one for you. I'd really like to order a proper SPID with the right paint codes and everything if I can. It was my Grandpa's, and he bought it from the man that owned the dealership about a year past new.

Beautiful truck. Looks like 514, light red is the color. Others may have a different opinion.

From the pictures, this is in no way a standard base model truck that would not have at least a few options listed. Whether they were added by someone later???? Anyone's guess. Any pictures from way back when your grandpa owned it? That may help identify any mods.

Good luck with you truck.

Thanks! I really have no way of knowing. I plan to dig through pictures my parents have this summer to see if I can find any good pictures.

FYI - George was awesome, and was able to produce a very complete report for a very reasonable price. Thank you so much for the recommendation!

Nice Truck

Great that you was able to find the info.

Jeff from outintheshop can reproduce you a new spid.

Jeff could take that info and get close to the way it would have been.

Just a Though

Re: SPID blank...

That report is awesome. I am very interested in the history of my old trucks, so I'll ask this even though I think I know the answer.

Is it possible to get such a report for US built and sold 67-72 Chevy trucks?
