Re: 67-72 / 73-87 seatbelts

I went through the same seat belt dilemma about 2 years ago.. I wanted to replace the seatbelts only (no shoulder harness) with shoulder harness type. The problem I had was space for the retract system, particularly on the driver's side as I have the stock in cab fuel tank. There's just not enough room for those large square body retracts. The '73 up seatbelt only retracts will fit, but it's tight.. The square body belt/harness setup uses separate retract "spools" for the lap belt and shoulder strap. This makes for a very large assembly that will NOT fit between the seat and door. The fuel tank also interferes quite a bit on the driver's side.

If I remember correctly, the brand I used is Superior.. Obtained from of all places -- O'Reillys.

I finally found an aftermarket set that would fit after I fabricated mounting bracket that moved the mount about 3 inches forward of the stock mount.

I've seen guys use the belts from an '88-'98 GMT400 truck with good results.

Re: 67-72 / 73-87 seatbelts

Thanks for all your info. I was lucky enough to locate two partial 67-72 style sets to make one good saddle set
