Interesting marketplace item

Whatever algorithm Facebook uses to suggest items on marketplace sometimes is handy. This popped up and it falls into one of those quirky things that'd be cool to have. I've been trying to think where and when this would have been useful. Ok you painted your hubcap but now you have a flat spare . I tried looking it up but only ne sold example came up on ebay with no useful information. So if anyone knows what tie this would've been available and it's intended use I'd be grateful

Re: Interesting marketplace item

Sprays pretty good at first, then starts squirting and spitting . I guess it's for people with no mini-compressor. They can haul a bunch of old mounted tires to the service station and have a supply of compressed air. I remember a time before portable storage tanks

"Clean with gasoline". I did mechanic work as a kid and that's what we used. Leaded gas. Lucky to be alive.

That is interesting. Collect all 3. I like the No. 12 sprayer operating from a spark plug hole. You could paint the whole truck.

Re: Interesting marketplace item

Yes, nowadays people (and paint manufacturers) get so scientific and hung up on mixture, and worry about the exact molecular composition of the paint thinner and such. Just prep the surface with leaded gas, wipe it off and shoot some paint. That's the way to getter done. It will last long enough.

Those instructions raise more questions. As others have pointed out how would you keep the gas out of the paint if you go the spark plug route? I'd still love to know what years these were avaliable.

Back when these were offered, you wouldn't have worried about some gas in the paint. It was a negligible amount of extra thinner. Good enough for an at-home paint job. Just like you didn't worry about crimping a split shot sinker on your fishing line with your teeth.

People tell me I used to do that but I don't remember. Matter of fact, I didn't realize I ever fished until they told me that. They say I was a fishin' fool. Now I'm just a fool

What I wonder about with the spark plug hole version is wouldn't the air pulse, not be a steady consistent stream of air? I guess to regulate line pressure you use the healthiest cylinders for higher pressure and the lower compression one for less pressure.
"Hey Ralph, I need lower air pressure than my Chevy puts out. If that old Ford of yours will start, could I come over and tap into it?"

Well yeah! I remember when I was a kid gas or kerosene was all we had for cleaning stuff. One time I poured some gas into a small styrofoam cup then turned around to grab something to clean. When I turned back around the cup had almost completely melted and gas was all over the concrete.

Re: Interesting marketplace item

One of the flea markets I visit has a tire inflator that you remove the sparkplug from a cylinder and crank the engine to pump up the tire. I'll get a pic next time I go, if it's still there.

I didn't realize that I got married the second time in Vegas until someone told me.

Okay... I do remember but I'm trying real hard to forget.
