I'm getting ready to install an S-10 brake booster to my '67 short-step and I was wondering what kind of bracket configuration would be the best to go with. Any advice is appreciated!

I've swapped a coouple of late model boosters and MC's to the older trucks, haven't done that exact swap though. I always mount the booster flush to the firewall just like it would be in the S10 or whatever the donor vehicle was then modify the push rod to the pedal to best match up and work. There may be some other barackets available to make it more of a bolt on swap. I like the flush mun t better myself instead of haveing the brackets stand off of the firewall with the cantilever systems the older trucks used.

I put 82 C10 booster on a 72 and just had to shorten a rod from the pedal. Last week I put an Astro booster in my 66 flush mounted and used the 66 pedal end of the rod with the adjustment and welded it to the Astro rod that goes into the booster.

I make a bolt on conversion bracket for mounting a S-10 booster on the '63-'66 trucks, but it won't bolt on a '67. If you like I could get a pic of one for you.

Here's some pics of the bracket that I make for the '63-'66 trucks and Suburbans. Please excuse the uglyness in the pics on my Suburban....I've been driving it this winter some....plus it has about 120,000 on it now

The booster that I used on my Suburban is out of a '72 Impala, but it has the same pattern on the mounting studs as the S10 boosters.

The two pics that have the turquoise booster and firewall are a display that I use at swap meets. It has the S10 booster. I could probably make some of these brackets to fit the '67-'72's if there was some interest to use the S10 boosters on that vintage of trucks.

I just drilled 4 holes and flush mounted mine, no bracket at all. This only works with the small diameter booster though. I think a large booster would interfere with the steering column.

This might be a dumb question, but what is the advantage of putting on an S10 brake booster?

If your turck ddn't come with a booster and you have one laying on the shelf you'd like to use. Some of the small diameter boosters are also a double diaphragm and give more braking power than the old old larg diameter single diaphragm boosters.

Well, from what I understand the S10 booster is the perfered choice because they require such little vacuum to work correctly and they go in with little modifications.

In the words of Ed McMahon..."Oh, Oh, Oh... you are correct sir!" Well it interfered with the shift linkage...

Check out my thread below to see how I dealt with that particular problem. I got the S-10 booster in and working perfectly. I went with the flush mounting.

I got a nice booster from a local member here in the area who was very kind to donate the part. I have a 71 with no booster, the rod goes directly into the MC, from the brake. I do not have the rod that goes from this booster bracket to the pedal? By the way what kind of booster is this? The ones I've seen for my truck do not have this extra lever that operates the booster, seems like I've seen this type on trucks here and there in the forums. I would like to know where to get this rod from the booster to the pedal or do I weld a eye let on the end of the one I have which is just a rounded end that goes into the booster. What about the MC, I just installed a new one or do I need another MC?
Man this sounds more difficult than it really is.
