6l80 or 4l80
I have found a nice low mile 6l80/4.8 combo for a great price. I was wondering with my 4.10 gears would the 6l80 be fine with such a low first or should I go with a 4l80. The truck will not be raced often just a decent cruiser but would like to run down the strip every now and then. Can first be locked out?

You can mod the 6l80e TEHCM for 2nd gear starts along with a transbrake if you like. It only costs money.

http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html
click this . then click the little white arrow and select trans . leave t-case and under drive blank . then click and enter axle gear and tire size . scoll around after the tire size and see the results . and any white box value can be clicked and changed . i use this all the time and its the best one i have found . 4l80-e is just a th400 with lockup and overdrive gear basicly . i would pick a good clean 6l80 or 90 trans for a better selection of gear ratios and lower overdrive .
