Project Gibson: 72 Cheyenne Super 4x4 3/4 ton factory build

This is a truck I am building for a family with a 16 year old. Great family friends that asked me if I was interested in building a truck with their son. Well, it has taken some time to gather parts, but the build has begun.

We are going with a factory height, frame off restoration that we are trying to keep as original as possible.

I bought this stalled project from another board member. Unfortunately, not all the parts agreed upon during the purchase never made it and mysteriously disappeared....several uncomfortable discussions delivered some parts, but some never materialized...

Re: Project Gibson: 72 Cheyenne Super 4x4 3/4 ton factory build

Had a couple good weekend days where the engine, trans and transfer case is in. Brakeline clips were refinished along with the black phosphate on the bolts.

Brake and fuel lines purchased from the Right Stuff Detailing and the stainless ebrake cables from Inline tube. The front cable is original with the hole in the end of the adjustment/threaded end. So far all is matching up. I had a terrible time on my last build with the Inline tube front cable pulling out of the ebrake pedal mount. The diameter was smaller than the original so I ended up using a really good used one.

John - I see that the top of the dash is still in primer. Are you painting it in a flat finish like OEM to match the dash pad color? My orange K20 had a parchment interior with a black dash pad so this portion of the dash was flat black.

Yes, the front of the dash will be the flat black. The bottom is also painted orange. I need to get that picture back from the shop. My painter is really being meticulous!

Coming along nicely. It's nice to see a restoration like this. It's going to be a beautiful truck.
