$135 hose clamp
I guess if you're restoring a 1966 Corvette 427 to some insane standard, but are hose clamps really that expensive? Because I have no qualms about cranking out some fake date coded ones at that price (because I don't think they could be used to mislead a buyer, it's just a detailing item).

Re: $135 hose clamp
I was thinking it was a mis print but then I also looked at the other items the seller is offering. I was surprised he was not selling the bong pipe he used to smoke the stuff he must be smoking to ask these prices.
To compare apples with apples, I found the following. These are also reproduced. I do not believe that factory clamps have any date code. http://www.ebay.com/itm/65-72-Corvet...7ba668&vxp=mtr

Re: $135 hose clamp
I got reproductions from Classic Industries for a couple bucks each. Of course they aren't dated.

Re: $135 hose clamp
Some guys are willing to pay for perfection. Not me, but the corvette/camaro/mustang restoration guys can get pretty intense. Not to mention the Hemi car guys. But it's kinda nice to look at the cars that restored to that level.

Re: $135 hose clamp
$15 used? I had no idea. I've thrown away more tower clamps than I care to admit.
Why's he making such a big deal about the date code if they weren't date coded? Scam or were only the early ones or Corvette ones dated?

Re: $135 hose clamp
After seeing too many Corvettes on a lift in shops I've worked in, I think there's a common disease or disorder to Corvette guys' obsession with details like, say, a properly dated hose clamp. I guess I got too jaded judging and viewing English motorcycle restorations. I don't mind working on Corvettes though, it pays pretty good, and they always needed something.
