1969 project shortie

Thought i would share some pics of my latest project. 1969 cst I picked up. Bought the truck from the original owners son , so I am the 3rd owner. Bought it less than a block from my house. Patina is just awesome and will remain untouched. But I have since chopped it down to a shortbed.

Back together with early classic frame braces, had a short driveshaft from another truck, brake line had a compression fitting , shortened it. Cut some off fuel line and did a quickie exhaust swap and she was rolling again .

12" out of the front of the bed , marked with tape and cut with sawzall. This was a wood floor bed , which was all rotted out , so it made it a lot easier .

Re: 1969 project shortie

Still need to finish up welding the sides up and cutting the trim to perfect length, needs new cab mounts and the body lines should be really close . Good enough for a old shop truck I chopped lol

Re: 1969 project shortie

I have 8" steelies for the rear I'm painting back original color like I did the front. Gonna get 275/60/15 bfg's, fronts are 6" steelies with 245/60/15 with nova hubcaps . Plan is to slam 4.5/6" early classic and 5.3 with th350. Just gotta work some more overtime

Re: 1969 project shortie

Got a 5.3 for it, also decided to "z" the frame, wasn't low enough.

Re: 1969 project shortie

Installed some ebay headers , stock towers in forward holes. eBay plates and new motor mounts. Had to slot the towers some for bolt to line up. Headers cleared everything except the ears on the tranny.

Re: 1969 project shortie

So hopefully this will help some guys out , I did a lot of searching on this site looking for ideas. I know porterbuilt is the way to go, but I'm laying frame on stock trailing arms and stock front end. So far I have right at $3000 in entire truck . Only things I need are driveshaft , making steering column clear, fuel pump, tranny lines and radiator.

Re: 1969 project shortie

Looks cool, nice work. What is the paint code for the blue. I'm debating blue or green because they look great even as the paint fades.
