My first build - 67 GMC small window stepper

Hey guys, this will be my first build - I acquired this 67 GMC small window stepper from X-cabsquarebody on c10forum, and will be doing a frame off.
Not sure what the exact plan for suspension is (suggestions welcome), but it will have a nicely built Oldsmobile 455 with 450+ HP. I am undecided on what manual tranny will go behind the 455 (suggestions welcome).

There will be lots of pics.

Wish me luck

Cool truck, congrats! For a tranny I would suggest a Muncie M22 preferably but a M20 or M21 would be fine as well. They came in some Pontiacs and ? as well as Chevys so there are BOP bellhousings out there. Or if your looking to spend more money and get some overdrive a T56 6 speed would also handle the power.

I was thinking the M22 as well, perhaps if I can find a 5 or 6 speed dirt cheap I'll go with one of those

Nice truck indeed. :-) I like the inline 6 though, would love to find a step-side myself like this to rebuild.

The I6 and the 3 speed tranny will be for sale or trade, as soon as I can get it out of there...

Re: My first build - 67 GMC small window stepper

Sweet looking truck.

You might be able to dolly out a lof of that pass front fender. Some people may laugh, but it looks really solid in the cup from the pics anyway. Try finding another 'one year' specific 67 pass fender and I really think i might be worth saving. you just have to think like the dent. How was it put in there in the first place? Just massage it out in the reverse of how it got there and 80-85% of that would pop right out. The upper edge might be tough but a stud welder would help too

Either way man, I'd save every bit you can. I love the old steppers.

Mine had a mouse nest, as well as bumble bees in it, crazy what will take up in a truck that has sat out in a field for a few years...
