Q about serpentine belt
Hi,
I have GMC 1984, it has 350 engine. I want to upgrade the serpentine belt to one serpentine belt as the new engines. How Can I make it? Should I change the waterpump? Is there any difference between new and old engine's waterpump rotation whether it rotates clockwise or anti-clockwise? please If you have video or pics will be much better. Thanks,

Re: Q about serpentine belt
Do you know which water pump can fit on the engine?

I actually have a limit budget, so I prefer to buy brackets for newer engines. However, I just wanted to know what engine I can get brackets from that fit on my engine exactly without modifications. So the brackets that you have installed in your engine are from 91-95, right?

Re: Q about serpentine belt
Is anyone running a setup like this without A/C and the big bracket that it uses? I'd like to go to a single belt, but don't have A/C and want to keep things as minimal as possible (crankshaft, water pump, P/S, alternator).

I want something like what come from the factory. For example, I take (alternator, A/c, water pump, brackets, and etc...) from 350 engine 1992 and then fit them to my 1984 350 engine. Has anyone done something like that?

It's 45 degrees here in Seattle too. Fahrenheit. I use my heater plenty, but have no need for A/C. Both of my last two cars I specifically looked for NO A/C models. |

Re: Q about serpentine belt
Yes. Mine is off a 1991 suburban. Works perfectly. Have to use the a/c hoses off the burb and move the wiring around.

Re: Q about serpentine belt
^^^You can get an A/C delete pulley that Doorman makes and put it in place of the A/C.

Re: Q about serpentine belt
Everything thing from the 92 will bolt to your 350. Brackets, water pump and accessories from a 4.3 will also bolt on. My setup is from a S10 Blazer. Here is a picture off all parts.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-12497698/ Truck brackets don't have a provision for an air pump. One more reason, I like my setup. |

Re: Q about serpentine belt
I am running a serpentine setup with no A/C. It was on the motor when I bought it. One thing nobody has mentioned is you will have to flip your fan blade around when you do it, I wasnt sure the previous owner replaced the water pump so I put a new one on. Got one for a 1989 truck. Its a reverse flow pump. Your old alternator willl not work with the serpentine brackets. I have a 1985 truck. To use a newer alternator you have to use a 5 volt 85 ohm resistor in the trigger wire if I remember right. Here are a few pics of the setup.

Re: Q about serpentine belt
Interesting A/C delete pulley. I've never seen one like that one.

I wouldn’t lean over that fan shroud while the engine is running with the blade on backwards!
