About how much coolant in a 350 block?
I drained the radiator but how much is still in the engine? Trying to get as close to a 50/50 coolant ratio. Thanks.

I don't remember the exact measurement, but I always put in 2 gal antifreeze, then top off withe water and it always seems to give m e the correct mixture on the little measuring device thing.

Set up a catch pan and remove either plug from the bottom of the block to drain all of it. Then you'll know how much is in the block, and have a precise ratio.

Better chance of flushing all the boogers, too

Re: About how much coolant in a 350 block?
That's what I do as well. I believe the total capacity with a 350 is right at 4 gallons. I put in 2 gallons antifreeze and add water until full, ending up with a 50/50 mix.

Re: About how much coolant in a 350 block?
I went looking for cooling system capacity, but got bored looking through the 671 page repair manual. I've always flushed the system with water and then put in 2 gallons of antifreeze, finishing off with water, just like Palf70step and Stocker have said. Pretty sure that the system is close enough to 4 gallons that unless you live in the frozen north, you'll be close enough for freezing protection.

Re: About how much coolant in a 350 block?
My BBC and 4 core takes maybe 4 gallons of premix, I'd buy five anyway. I used to mix my own with distilled, 50/50, but the premix I use is probably better stuff, IMO. I think the entire system approaches six ga.
