The son told me that the Dad had ordered it new from the factory in 1969, but the factory went on strike, so his order didn't make it in until 1970. I have all the paperwork- handwritten of everything he EVER did to the truck including changing the headlight bulbs! Also have the Protecto- plate. The Orig. owner's son has kept in touch via email and we have sent him progress pics as we have done the restoration of the blazer. He came all the way from Hawaii to give us the original paperwork a few mounths after we bought the blazer and took pictures of all the work we had done. Chassis Suspension type:stock 4WD Front Brakes:drum Modificationsriginally a 307, but orig. owner had a GM crate 350 put in. Only 500 miles on that engine when we got it. General Manufacturer:GMC Year:1971 How long have you owned this truck?:4 years History behind the truck:As far as I know my Burb was "born and raised" in Calif. The guy I bought her from owned her for about 13 years. I know she was "used and abused". The PO owns a paint and body shop, so when I purchased her, she had a fairly new paint job, but the metal wasnt treated properly in places, so rust control is an ongoing problem. My Burb has recently gotten a new SB 350 with a HPCam, I had changed to headders, but soon got tired of them heating my starters and blocking my plugs, went back to rams horns manifolds. She has 2 ch. Flowmasters, with 3 in. tips that end just before the rear axle. Bout 2 years ago, she got a new T350 tranny with a shift kit installed. Shes had all new brakes, and the front end all rebuilt. Shes borderline stock. She was "Born" with over head A/C, but I removed that and had after market AMA under dash A/C installed. My Burb is my daily driver. Shes taken me Coast to Coast 2 times, only problem was a broken fan belt. The paint job thats on my truck was there when I bought her, its a Pearl white with a lavender over spray. The graphics were the POs too. I plan on having a "frame on" resto done in the comming years, she will be a simple Pearl white, the strips will be removed and her body will be smooth. She has the "Clam shell" type rear doors now, and Im working on a set of Barn style doors to replace them Chassis Suspension type:stock 1/2 ton, leaf springs/shocks Front Brakes:disc Rear Brakes:drum Steering:605 pwr. steering w/ steering dampner on tie rod. Here’s the scoop on this truck: I first saw this truck in person at the Good Guys Indianapolis car show back in 2003. At that time, the truck had just been put on the road. The truck was originally a Tennessee truck and is very solid. It’s hard to believe but this truck only has 52,XXX miles on the odometer. The title said actual mileage and judging by the wear on some of the components, I believe it. I know a lot of you have photos of this truck saved. It has a killer stance which is what attracted me to the truck in the first place. There’s something about big Torque-Thrust wheels that make every vehicle look good. I’m going to list some of the specs on this truck but feel free to ask me anything about it. 1967 Short Bed Fleetside – Small back window Baby Blue in color…just a little lighter than the factory blue Factory Air truck 350/350 swapped in at 40,000 miles Flowmaster Mufflers Air ride suspension Dropped Spindles Power disc brakes “C” Notched Rear Camaro Rear End Power Steering 18” x 8” Front 20” x 10” Rear Tilt Column Tach “Highlander” Seat (Come on...it gives this truck some serious character!!!) Future plans for this truck: As we all know, these projects never end. When I bought this truck, the interior was filthy. My girlfriend and I pulled the entire interior out and completely covered the floor and behind the gas tank in dyna-mat insulation. In some places we even doubled up. We steam cleaned the seat and scrubbed the vinyl for no less than 4 hours to get it clean. I installed the factory tach (Thanks GMC Paul!) and was able to get all of the gages working. I bought the steering wheel to match the rims. The only thing left to do on the interior is piece the rest of the A/C system together (missing the hoses, diverter, s-duct). The engine compartment has a major overhaul planned. I’m not going to share the details yet…you’ll just have to watch the board for the before and after pictures! Josh |

July 04 Truck of The Month Winner

I bought my truck in about July of 1999 after drooling over a buddy's 1970 1 ton that he converted to four wheel drive. My truck appears to be have spent it's life on a farm doing farm tasks. My first modification was adding a 4" lift and larger tires. It seems that each year I have focused on a different project. My second year was rather minor, just added power steering and got some other maintenance issues addressed. My next project was getting a flatbed built. I was going to do the install but in the end it was just alot more convenient to let the flatbed company do the install. Soon after doing the flatbed I added some leaves to the rear spring pack and made some changes to approximately 6" of lift. In July of 2002 I received a call from another board member that he had located a wrecked 1989 1 ton truck with a good 454. I purchased it and had a fun time getting it brought home. I spent evenings getting the engine pulled and then the cleaning and prep began. I got rid of the TBI and went with a Stage II Jet 850 cfm carb, a Weiand Action Plus manifold, a Crane Cams cam, gear drive, new aluminum water pump, oil pump, fuel pump and some good looking valve covers. When it was time to prepare for the transplant I had blazer boy and Barn9 come over to pull the old engine. We got it pulled easy enough but saw some rust issues that would be easy to take care of while the truck had the front clip removed. Barn9 and blazer boy told me now was a good time to paint the truck to which I just laughed and told them NO WAY! Well, what do you know, before long I found myself thinking of doing just that. I started sanding the cab and before long I had the cab completely stripped and committed to painting it myself. Doing 1 1/2 to 2 hours of work every few evenings makes a project go slow and I soon decided that body work and paint was above my level so I selected a body shop to take over. Today the truck is very close to coming home from the body shop. I am so eager to get it home and fire up the 454. I've never owned a big block and as this is replacing a tired 307, I hope to be very impressed. My family and coworkers think I'm obsessed, and they might be right. All I know is I get huge amounts of satisfaction working on my truck and am so glad to have this board to help me along with my project. I've gained alot from the board and hopefully given back too.
