Talking Gas Tank worked great!

I have recently seen threads on which tank to use and where to put the filler neck. I just got through putting a 69 camaro tank under my shortbed. i made a subframe out of 1 1/2 square tubing and made some hangers out of thin
1 1/2 inch wide flat metal. I bought a new drop back bumper and plasma'd a square hole and covered it with a flip down plate holder off of an 81 malibu. Cant see the tank from behind and everything tucked under nice and fit extremely well! Just though id let everyone know how it went.

P.S. picture coming soon hopefully!

Re: Gas Tank worked great!

Did you have to buy the tank new, or did you already have it. Just curious as to the cost of it all.

Re: Gas Tank worked great!

thats the only downfall to this tank: it only holds 17 gallons i belive. And with my 396 and 3.73 posi it looks like i might have to invest in an overdrive tranny

The original tank only holds 16 gallons, so you got one more for your efforts.

Re: Gas Tank worked great!

Scott, my project is also a 396 with a 3.73 rear end. What is the max rps and speed for you on the freeway?
Thanks!

It's sort of hard to picture without ummm pictures . From what you said the filler is coming out of the rear bumper. Sorta hard to imagine how the neck would have enough fall on it. I think that's what he's saying.

Re: Gas Tank worked great!

My buddy has a '70 Monte Carlo withe the filler behind the plate, and if you don't do it right gas always spill out. That was what I was thinking.

Don't know. I always use photobucket to upload my pictures here. Looking forward to seeing some pictures though.

I am very interested in the camaro tank. 17 gallons would be fine with me. I just don't want to be able to see the tank hanging down below the rear bumper.
