20/22" steelies?

Hey, guys, needing some info from y'all. I've been working on my '68 short/wide project for umm 9 years now LOL and I'll probably be working on it another 9 years, but anyways, I'm seriously thinking about putting some 20/22" steel wheels (dunno if they'll be smoothies or even maybe a rally-type wheel) on it. Who would be a good supplier to get these from? I think Stockton can make a set for me but after that I can't think of anyone else. I've done a search and have found people that make steel wheels but usually they only go up to 17" or 18". Any help would be appreciated!

Re: 20/22" steelies?

Just a little secret! Dodge has 20" steel wheels under the ram trucks and lincoln has them under their trucks and SUV's for spares. they are not the same bolt pattern you can buy bolt on adaptors... the style is not really attractive I have seen a set with the holes welded over and smoothed. Been wanting to pull this off for a while and probably will on my shop truck project..

Day-um c10addict! You're giving away my secrets! Seriously though, I've never seen it done and so thought I was the only one that had considered using the Dodge factory spares and some adapters....do you have any pics of them on a Chevy truck?

Don't neglect a brake upgrade, those will be some HEAVY wheels. Sounds like a cool idea though. If someone pulls it off they better get pics!!!

Re: 20/22" steelies?

So it's been done? I have wondered what the backspacing on the Dodge wheel is because the thinnest adapters I could find were these...I ordered one of these last week just to see if the wheel I have will fit.

My C-20 is factory stock with 17 inch wheels, Do you really think that these new wheels are any heavier than my old 17 inch wheels?

Possibly, but we're talking 1/2 ton with these wheels.

Im pretty sure that stockton wheel sells a 20" steel wheel, its a military barrel which they just weld a passenger car center into, not sure about 22s though.

Re: 20/22" steelies?

That's a 20x9 wheel with +19mm offset(6" backspacing), so with a 1.25" adapter, you're lookin' at around 4.75" backspacing. Perfect! Quit holdin' out on us Scot...

Now- who makes trim rings that big?

seriously... don't leave the details out man. trim rings and baby moons on a 20" steelies would look great on a c-10 IMO.

Re: 20/22" steelies?

Those Dodge and Lincoln wheels are 20x8 not 20x9. However stockton and pete paulson wheels can use them as cores to widen them and get the correct or for that matter any bolt pattern. But your looking at at least $200 per wheel for the work in addition to the cost of the wheels. The largest steel core currently available is 17" so it will be a while until either of those companies offer a wheel of a larger size at a reasonable price... sux

In winter I would run 4 spare 20" rims on mine while the 22's were in the garage. A friends really funny photoshop cop truck came out afterwards.
