I'm not sure where he got it from but next time I see him, I'll ask.

Does anyone know who made these and where they were made?
Here is the emblem that is on the side of it.

Someone posted in another thread a while back that there was a company in Oklahoma that did these conversions:

Quote:
The Alton Co. and Scott Bilt were two other companies licesensed thru Chevrolet to build these trucks, the Scott Bilt Co. was actually a Chevrolet dealership in Oklahoma City, Ok. and they also made a 3 door six man cab, these trucks could come with a stock or altered wheelbase.
Maybe the Emblem with the S points to this conversion company. The indian logo kinda reflects a oklahoma Company

Interesting...it has 72 door panels, ans 69 & up steering wheel.
Still a cool ass truck though.
Whats under the hood?
Is the sheet metal typical Ohio quality? Or is it all still there?

The worst part looks to be the rear half of the cab (where the crew was grafted on).
I didn't look under the hood. I know he told me what it had but I don't remember
I'll have to stop by and get some more pictures and details.

I asked the guy where it came from. He said that he's had it for at least ten years and he got it from a guy that lived here in town.

Based upon the last picture, I would agree that someone other than the 'known' converson companies pieced this one together. The drip rail on factory conversion trucks continues between the doors, whereas this one there is a gap.

That tank getting 10 to 12 mpg is what !( I'd still like to own it) I know I'm gonna hear 25 testimonials about big blocks getting awesome mpg. To all of you- refer to my previous post or tell us how strong was the tailwind and how big a sail were you flying or how steep the grade you were coasting! This could be fun!

My 86 Chevy crew-cab dually with a 4:56 rear gets 10-12 miles a gallon. Even better mileage if it is towing my car trailer with something on it. Stock BB engine with a Quadrajet on it.

Those emblems are off a Jeep Cherokee. The '79 that I had wore them on the front fenders. It had a smaller one on the glovebox. Who knows why that guy put them on a Chevy. They are cast metal and very thick and heavy.
