Re: Vintage push trucks

I have some old pics from Bristol hosted on my site from 1972 (Bristol was an IHRA track then)...There's several 67-72 trucks.

http://slickorange.com/board/mater/B...pages/0003.htm

http://slickorange.com/board/mater/B...pages/0026.htm
http://slickorange.com/board/mater/B...pages/0031.htm (Here's a little push truck mess up!)

You can of course spot a few more in the pics here and there, (misc, body panels), but that's the real shots. Couldn't believe how many were in there after I saw these pics taken by someone else from years ago before our trucks were classics!

Re: Vintage push trucks

c10addict, I like the way you're thinking. I can get more into the push truck theme than some of the other stuff people are doing.

Panel is owned by Bucky Austin - used to push some of the coolest front engine nitro diggers ever made.

Ahhhh "those were the days"..... that is why I am SO into the current wave of popularity for "nostaglia" drag racing.... here's a few more pics to add to this thread.... behind many of the drag cars of the past were push/tow/haul trucks.....

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Vintage push trucks

I like the hitch idea, may have to look into that a little. I had originally gotten the idea after looking at Speed by Spectres push truck at the Hot Rod Power Tour. They used small tubing coming through the front air dam so they could remove the push bar. I was going to build a small frame using smaller diameter square tubing to hug the original frame and come out right under the front bumper as to not have any clearance issues. Here is my inspiration photo done by Carter.
