Re: big block swap

Since the trucks were available from the factory with a big block chevy, the swap is very straightforward.

If you have a fully dressed short water pump big block, it's basically motor mounts..and maybe change the engine harness if you're watching details closely. Really not much to it other than some sweat & cussin.

I was not aware that the big block engines had long and short pumps like small blocks...

Yup, big blocks had two length pumps too.

Heh - nope. That would suck though if the OP had a long water pump setup and tried to put it in there.

The short water pump is a tight fit depth wise.

Re: big block swap

I've done two of these conversions in the past.

I just used factory big block mounts, pulleys, and brackets. No cutting, bending, or any other foolishness. It's a straight in factory swap.

Re: big block swap

You might be thinking about the big block into 4x4's. Sometimes that can be a little tricky since the 4x4's didnt come factory with big blocks during the 67-72 model run.
