SCORED!!!! Finally after 6 months of looking..

I new here but just wanted to express how happy I am ! After looking at atleast 30 different trucks I bought one today. I had to go about an hour away but it was worth it. I was looking for a GMC swb flletside roller project with little as rust as I could get... I got a '69 with very little rust, no rust in the lower doors or the rear corners. Just a couple of minor spots here and there. The bed is pretty ruff and the body need alot of prep, but still think I got a good deal. Oh yea its not a roller... its got a good running 396, th400, pretty nice slots on it. Its been lowered, but a bad job of it, but alot of new parts to go with it like a new windshield, new front and rear chrome bumpers, new carpet sills. Its got a new grill and alot of new parts. Its just rough enough for me, I can still have about a winters worth of work to it.... I have to go back and get it on monday with a trailer. I dont trust it yet to make the hour drive back, I want to check over everything before. I will post some pics as soon as I can figure out how to.....
Now is the time Im realling going to be needing some good advice form the board....

Looks like an excellent project and with a little work you can drive it for a while too! Looks like a great truck.

Hopefully here is a few. And I know the truck isnt all that great, but Imsure many of you can remember when you got your truck and the vision you had with it.... Its one of those project trucks that someone had good intentions of fixing up but due ths or that or loss of job or interest or whatever, dont matter now.... Its got a good home now with someone thats will give it the attention that it so desperately needs....

1st job- seal up where someone has started sanding on it to stop the surface rust that has started. Get a game plan on what parts / pieces are needed in the body itself either replace or fix. And try to come up with the paint
color(s). I got too many ideas on paint but not sure what I want.

2nd Do some minor engine work, replace with some good stuff I already have lke radiator, carb, ect. and clean up engine bay as best as possibble for now...

3rd- redo the frontend and lowering.. It sucks now, springs are bad due to the heat job. Its got those little twist thingys in the springs to keeping them from going completly flat...

4th - I will just have to see where Im at then...

Re: SCORED!!!! Finally after 6 months of looking..

so you think $2750.00 cash was a good deal for this truck all things considered? It runs and drives, just needs love.....and alot of money... I have a garage full of let over hotrod parts from the last 11 years at this house...plus I have a brand new 496 vortec crate motor, a 4t80l fresh trans, still need to get a converter though and get a engine harness done....

Heres my 496 8.1L Vortec Crate engine sitting in the garage. It still will go it to the truck but it may be a while since the 396 in the truck is running pretty good. Its running real rich right now, but the guy I got it from said that the truck has been sitting for a long time and he was honest enough to say he knew nothing about engines and stuff. Its got a crappy Edlebrock carb on it now, I got about 5 real good Holleys in the garage that will fix that up. Its the body work and locating parts is whats going to be the hard part for me...
Love the "redneck" part of your name, I come from a long line of west Texas oil field workers so it kinda feels like home...

nice truck, all it needs is the same thing every GMC needs, a grill and tailgate! That should stir up some hate and discontent....
