need some help.
i have a 1990 model 350 engine that originally came with a 700 r4 tranny (which i dont have). My question is will a turbo 350-or 400 bolt up to it or do i need some kind of adapter plate. Also will there be any other problems with this install. Motor is in a 72 swb stepper. This truck is not a daily driver so i dont need an overdrive. I dont have a tranny yet so i can get either, just wanted some input to see if it would work and maybe which of the 2 would be the least painful to install. thanks.

Re: need some help.
th350 and th400 both are are a bolt up and go deal.if you got the engine mounted in the stock sb position a 6 inch tailshaft will make it so you can use a stock length driveshaft for the 72

the engine is mounted in the stock position. there is a drive shaft also. not sure if it is stock driveshaft or what PO had in truck with engine and 700 r4 tranny combo. can i get a th350 or 400 that would be the same overall lenght as a 700 or will i need a different driveshaft. thanks.

Re: need some help.
yes the 9 inch shaft th350 is only 1/16 of an inch difference than the 700r4. the yoke is also the same. The th400 will require a new driveshaft and yoke.heres a chart that will help you out http://www.tciauto.com/Products/TechInfo/trans_dims.asp
