86 Crew cab 4x4 6.0 build

Hello all, I have an 86 that I will be starting on this week I have had a 2wd CCSWB but i think its time to make a 4x4 SWB. Ive already started by having the p.o pull the bed and seats. I pulled the hood for a better look! I bought the truck already converted to 4x4 from Unique rides out of Linn Valley Kansas. They did a good quality job of it. I am pulling the throttle body 350 and installing a LQ9 out of a Denali into it with a turbo 400/205. Here are a few pics to get started.

SWEET! Did they swap the 4x4 suspension over to the 2x4 chassis or cut/splice the chassis, etc? I would like to see more pics of the suspension swap if possible. I am subscribed to this one and cant wait to see how it progresses. I will be starting my CCSB 4x4 very soon so I am excited to watch this!

Thanks supercheyenne! Your 6.0 was a big influence/help on my decision. They did swap the suspension over. The only kinda questionable thing they did was cut the 2wd crossmember off, used the top of it as if you were sectioning it to lower the member with no extra bracing. Im looking at ways to keep it and beef it up. It would make the engine mounting a lot easier keeping it.

Sweet, cant wait for pics. You could always just ditch the 2wd crossmember and bolt a 4x4 crossmember in with the engine mounts and all. Just an idea.

I've seen the Pacific fabrications mount for Ls motors but am not sure about it. I couldn't find anything on their site. I most likely will keep the 2wd just stiffin it up. We'll see.... And Joe let that Oklahoma boy in ya come out! lift it up

Thats what i was thinking. After looking at it for awhile tonight I'm thinking i'll pursue some 4x4 mounts.

I will be following the same pattern as tswore on his ccsb.

How far over is the mark on the bottom? It's 14" to cut out, right?

Re: 86 Crew cab 4x4 6.0 build

Work on the truck has been slow, The engine and trans are all in the truck. I have just been getting everything lined up and bolted in. Then its finishing up the fuel system and firing it up. About ready to get a rear drive shaft made, anyone have a measurement on that with a short crew? Or how to measure for it? And I'll get some pics up of it sitting in the for the pic police!

Thanks for the bump Cheyenne!

Re: 86 Crew cab 4x4 6.0 build

do you have the stock 2 piece long bed drive shaft?
If so you should just be able to have 14" taken out of the rear piece.
