Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build

Im starting to sell off my parts off my circuit car, and thought id start SLOWLY building my daily driver 85 C10 LWB into a mild prerunner.(Till i can afford a full on prerunner of course..)

First thing first, here are the specs on the truck.
305, th700r4, 10 bolt, 3:08 gears, 27inch tires,(LOL!)

Ive allready:
-Removed the front sway bar
-Removed the tailgate
-Installed 2 RJS 3" wide 4 point latch&Link harnesses
-Removed spare tire carrier (hung way to low, kept kitting it on everything!)

Current parts list

Suspension:

-Custom Tubular Upper A-arms
-Heavy duty ball joints
-Energy Suspension Control arm bushing kit
-Energy Suspension Leaf spring bushing kit
-Fabtech 3in Lift Springs
-1 Inch Custom coil spring spacer
-QA1 Adjustable Heavy Duty Ball Joints
-Moog Heavy Duty Tie Rod Ends
-1.5" Wheel spacers(front only to correct narrowing from LCA angle)
-Custom extended Shock towers in the front
-Bilstien 5125 Reservoir shocks in the front
-Bilstien 5100 shocks in the rear
-Custom LCA braces

Chassis

-Fabtech tire carrier
-2 5 gallon G.I. spec fuel cans, and mounting
-In cab intercom w/ frogman headsets
-EMPI salt and pepper Suspension seats
-B&M Floor shifter
-Custom Tube bumpers front (w/ skidplate) and rear
-Light rack
-Hanneman Fiberglass fenders & bedsides
-12 Bolt Rear end
-Detriot Locker
-ALOT of Frame bracing

Wheels and tires
-5 32" Pro Comp Mud terrains, 11.5" wide
-15x8 Aluminum Wheels

I actually take this thing out, as it is. and run it pretty hard believe it or not. Holds its own with mid travel rangers and its bone stock with tiny tires.

Just a warning, this is going to be a slow build process, dont expect any kinda fast posts on this. Im on a pretty low income budjet, but ive been saving money for a while to get rolling on this.

Kinda thought i would just throw a build thread on here to let guys know that theres some people out there trying to build "prerunner-esque" c10's. Which in my research, is pretty rare. Everyone and there mother has a slammed, bagged, etc. C10 out there... not my thing.

Heres some pictures of how she sits today!

Just stock for now, hopefully in 2 weeks ill start ordering the stuff to do my suspension!

Like i said, dont expect any major updates for around 2 weeks.

subscribed. wanna see how you're doing the lift on the front; I want to do similar but don't really need to brace it too much as I'm not going to be out desert running in it.

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build

thanks guys, sorry about the pictures failing, im gunna upgrade my photobucket to pro this week.

And just a little update,

I ordered:
Bilstien 5100 shocks for the rear
Energy Suspension Polyurethane front control arm bushing kit
and a pair of SpiderTrax 1.25" wheel spacers for the front.

Im not sure how im gunna work out the front shock towers... /:
but this aint gunna be nothing crazy. Ive allways wanted a class 11 baja bug, so this is my substitute lol! Should be better offroad then a class 11 though >

and a little update on my parts list, is that i might be getting a set of old school Rancho 4" lift springs. So i could do without the spacer and the stiffer fabtech springs!

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build

small update for today...

Put new rotors, pads, and shoes on it.

and removed the broken air deflector. It looks so much better without it, looks alot higher.

and i upgraded my photobucket to a pro account this morning, so the pictures should slowly start to appear again.

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build

Little update today, Ordered Fabtech 3" coils, and 1" coil spring spacers!

Also I decided on 31" General grabbers for now anyway... so i wont have to hack the fenders too much... Ill be ordering those in about a month.

Should be installing the coil springs&spacers, bushings, tubular upper arms, rear shocks, and spidertrax wheel spacers within the next 2 weeks!

Leaving the stock front shocks on, i plan on going to a twin shock setup with shock hoops around july... kinda like the fabtech long travel kit.. little bit better though! and i should have 4 5150 bilstiens total in the front.

anyways.. just waiting on ups right now! Im not gunna lie, super excited!

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build

update: just waiting on ups and fedex, seems like the more you want something the longer they take! Still shopping for tires, wish i coulda done 35's but oh well, i can tuck 32's in the fenders!

Looking at installing:
-1.5" wheel spacers
-Fabtech 3" coils
-Bilstien 5100 rear shocks(if i get the right ones...)
-Tubular upper control arms
-Energy Suspension bushing kit
-31" tires(havent decided on which ones yet)
-Aluminum wheels

... by May 1st!

Yes, he didn't mention installing a harness bar and the belts are probably installed to the floor.

The pre-runner idea is cool, but please do it safely.

well your right, but take this into consideration, my stock seat belts don't lock!
After getting thrown into the steering wheel several times i got really tired of it. And the way I mounted the belts is in no way the final mounting.

Thanks for the concern though!

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build

Ill be buying 31x10.50 General Grabbers this weekend!

And here's the parts ill be installing during the last weekend of the month...

-Fabtech 3" lift coils
-Custom Tubular Upper A arms
-Moog Heavy duty tie rods
-Edelbrock Tie rod sleeves
-Energy Suspension polyurethane front control arm bushings
-Energy Suspension polyurethane Leaf Spring bushings
-Bilstien 5100 rear shocks
-Limiting straps in the rear

Ive decided to do away with the coil spring spacer, to get some more droop out of the truck, i didn't take into consideration that the spacers would be lifting the truck 2" or more! Ill also be going to just the RJS L&L lap belt.

I plan on cleaning the parts up real good and painting them, if im gunna spend the time... might as well do it right!

Ill keep you guys posted! Wish me luck with the new wheels and tires!

Summit, I'm sending them back though, not looking for a huge lift, mainly looking for wheel travel.

Re: Slow moving, Mild Prerunner build

thanks man!

small update for today.. ordered 31x10.50 General Grabbers! should have them in 2 business days if all goes as planned.

My wheels and tubular upper control arms are for sure getting here tomorrow afternoon.

The new plan is, as far as the first leg of suspension work, is that well be doing it next week. Possibly taking the truck to ocotillio wells depending on how it all turns out.

Ill keep you guys posted! Thanks for the interest. I hope to have some major progress this next week!
