i purchased this 1967 chev from the previous owner last spring for $2000, story was he purchased it from a guy who lost interest in it, he bought it and did some things but no longer had the time for it so now i come into the picture

he had put a brand new lowering kit in it front and back and i have no clue what height it is, it ran and drove the ppo apparently had the engine rebuilt, it seemed peppy and the steering was nice and tight, so my plans were and i say "were" to pull motor paint it, change gaskets, better cam, intake, carb etc and to sand all the bare spots the po owner had left as you will see, he figured because the truck wasnt in the elements the bare spots would be fine but it wasnt in a heated shop so not the case, but everything got way out of hand and off track

im rambling so here are some pics of the truck when i first got it, sorry for the poor pics i forgot to take pics before i pulled it in the garage

well i cant figure out how to type inbetween the pictures, this truck was done judging by the interior sometime in the 80's im guessing the body is very solid, all the rust you see s from bare metal beng exposed it was stored in none heated storage so its just rust like you get from getting rain on bare metal

now onto some surprises i found, one of the previous owners had "shaved" the drip rails but as i soon found out, actually cut them by the windshield then bent into the door jamb and spot welded them and proceeded to use a rediculous amount of bondo, the drip rail above the windshield was filled with bondo and back about 4 inches on the roof as you can see in the photos in my first post and the ones in this post, not sure yet what to do about this mess

also they covered the whole side of the fenders close to the doors as you can also see in the pics and for what you say a big dent? nope, a rust hole? nope, all that bondo to hide the holes from where the fender emblem sat, i also will ost a pic of pass fender after i knocked the bondo off of it

so with all this lovelt stuff going on i pulled my motor to freshen up the color and gaskets, change the cam etc and what do i find in my "rebuilt" engine? a litre of antifreeze GREAT! so now im paranoid and fearing the worst a cracked block

so i strip it right down to the bare block and take it in to have it checked out, all is good no cracked block, but theres a small chip right on the edge of the cylinder wall, so i get the deck machined on both sides, and got them to go over my crank while im at it, now im all set to go right?

nope caught a case of the "since its apart" bug, but i'll have more info of that further down the road this is all just a before so i can sort it all out in order

heres some shots of my pimp interior lol i actually like it and dont plan on changing it any time soon if i ever do period, the blue is actually a lil darker just bad pics from the light i guess but you can tell what shade it is in the pic where you can see the sun visor

Good luck with your build. Being the truck is lowered it will stand out better, any side shots.

heres some pics of how far i got before it got too cold out and this is the current state its in right now, i will post pics of the motor and gauges after work

i will get some better pics when i get it moved away from the fence, im hoping to start working n it again very soon

my truck had a gauge cluster that only had the fuel gauge and speedo, so i went to the wrecker and got a cluster with the amp, oil and temp, i took it apart and cleaned it up, forgot to take ics of the speedo and fuel gauge, heres the before pics

heres some pics of my motor after the "since its apart" bug wore off, i would have normally painted it chev orange but i wanted something a lil different from what you nrmally see, so i picked up this engine paint its called burnt copper, i think it looks alright

thanks, and yes the flat black got rid of alot of the ugly off the truck lol but theres was alot of sanding and wire brushing inbetween those pics

so i havent made any progress on my 67 lately but i will be starting this week if the rain stops and get as much done as i posibly can.... however i did make a couple purchases

i bought a set of mags from my friend no pics of them yet, they arent the greatest but they will do and look better than whats on it now, plus they have brand new tires

the second purchase..... well thats a little bigger and i dont plan on using all of it, im sure when you see the pic you qill fgure it out, if anyone is even reading this thread lol if not oh well great place to keep track of my progress

thanks, with this truck i can make my 67 a short box using the frame and hopefully the box panels, the bed is pretty much shot icluding the metal strips for between the wood and the supports underneath

shes a pretty plain jane truck, it even came with the radio delete but someone hacked a hole in the dash, but they didnt put an antenna in no holes in the wiper cowl

straight 6 motor with power steering and 3 on the tree, but all im using is the frame and what i can salvage from the box, and the front bumper for now too as my other truck doesnt have one

im swapping all my 5 bolt suspension and lowering kit from my 67 to the 69 including front cross member so the 6 bolt stuff is all coming off, as well i will be using the cab from my 67, still undecided on what front clip to go with 67-68 or 71-72

well got the box apart and not looking good, the inside of the bed panels where the wood bolts to is rotted away, so looks like i'll be spending a grand on new box sides

flat black just like me! woohoo haha wow never noticed how low the frames are when on the ground without the front clip I never saw mine like that pretty cool stuff. you'll be happy to have that sway bar in there too make life easy when you dont scrape your opposite side bumper taking turns without a bar to help lol trust me.

haha good to know, i test drove it briefly before buying it and you can notice a difference in driving period with it compared to a 69 chev i owned once

here are some pics of my box before i tore it apart, the rust is pretty bad on the inside and i doubt i can save the bed sides, i will try and get more pics this weekend

yea im not too sure if i can save the bed sides or if they even make patch panels for the pices that are gone

im not sure if id even want to mess with it i might just buy new bedsides either way, too bad though the outside are in pretty good shape just some small dents
