do you drive your truck often or not?

hey guys im jus curious as to how often you drive your trucks! my 67 will be my first vehicle that i will be driving around and to school it will cost a lot for gas but since my dad drove it too the pride to drive such a fine truck is better than the cost

Re: do you drive your truck often or not?

yeah my dad has nasty headers ( hopefully switching to ram horns) and dual exhaust but when we switch to ram horns we will run flows. and my 67 will have ram horns and 44 series flows.

I drive one or the other of mine every day except in the winter. I drove both the '70 long fleet and the Suburban today. The Burb for the first time.... I have to take it in the morning to get the exhaust put on it..Whoo-Hoo!!!..

I have to tell you though, I am no High Schooler, even though I still feel like one..

Are you putting flows on it? I think they call us old schoolers (young at heart, mind you).

I drive mine all I can. That's why I own it. I use trucks for work and generally need the one set up with all the tools, etc. But,when I know I only need certain tools,or what I need can be left on the job,I drive to work. It's also handy when I need an empty bed to haul something bulky, etc. When my work truck is down I can c-clamp ladder racks on and have an instant work truck. It's also my favorite truck to haul stuff to a swap meet, usually pulling a trailer. Mostly,I drive it when I'm not working just cuz I love it! Winter sucks though. Once they spread the salt my truck stays home. It's an a strict no sodium diet.

Re: do you drive your truck often or not?

Rebuilt a 283 and 700R and put them in over 3 years ago. I have about 700 miles on the motor and about 200 on the tran. I think I have driven it about 4 miles this year. That is not good for sure.

I drive my avatar truck to my shop as much as I can. My other truck (70 stepper) is on my lift just waiting for a little love&new motor (six silly) I'm driving one of them at least three days a week. Cheers, Pat

Re: do you drive your truck often or not?

my '67 used to be my daily driver, but she lost that spot to the '96. The '96 lost that spot to the '97, but due to tranny problems I'm back to the '96. The '67 is fun to drive but manual brakes, manual steering and 3 on the tree aren't my idea of a DD.

any idea what kind of mileage you get with that combo? I've got an old 283 I was thinking about putting in my '67 with a tuneport setup and either a 700R4 or a 6 speed manual...

That's awesome. That's where I want to get with my 67. Almost there. Took a little over a year so far.

Mine isn't my daily driver but I drive it every time I get a chance. It's the vehicle I drive when I have absolutely nowhere to go.

Same here. It was built to be driven. It was my daily driver for several years back in the 80's and early 90's. It's not the gas cost that keeps me from driving it though. I have to drive for work and have a company car.

Re: do you drive your truck often or not?

Mine was my daily driver up till I blew up the 307, then it snowballed into a lot of work! I'm well past my high school years too but I'd have loved to have had one of these trucks back then!

Re: do you drive your truck often or not?

The K20 is a daily driver (shares time with my 63 Chevy II during the summer). My 70 has sat in storage for over 4 years and is waiting for me to get a place with more garage space to store and work on it.

Not my "daily" althogh it has been called into service when the 260,000 mile Caprice 9C1 breaks down. The '67 has logged 25,000 miles in under 4 years.
