Exclamation Am I SOL? Where to buy one of these?

Pics below

This is currently my Daily Driver!

Front Wheel cylinder started leaking on my 70 C-10. Figured I'd pull it and run down to the local parts store for a replacement. The Anchor bolt was seized on (tried penetrating oil/heat, etc etc.)

Then I had the bright idea to have the wife hold the socket while I tried to stand on the handle to break it loose ( after all leverage is your friend). Well the socket slipped off and snapped the nub that holds all the springs for the drum brakes. I have spent hours searching online and can't find one anywhere (LMC/oldtrucks/ebay etc etc). Is Wheel Cylinder Anchor Bolt the right name?

Does anyone know where to buy one, or have one laying around after doing the 5 lug disc brake conversion? I'm located in Shreveport Louisiana.

I am not interested in conversions, just need to get this mean green machine back on the road.

Details:

6 lug Standard Brakes 1 1/8 diameter cylinder/ and anchor bolt (60-72 C10 front drum brakes?)

Thanks for the support

Re: Am I SOL? Where to buy one of these?

Sure do appreciate it friend, thanks for lookin.

Hindsight: I wish I would have tried to rebuild the wheel cylinder without taking it off (did not even know that was an option till I broke the part)

I don't think you can do that. The pistons won't clear the bumps on the backing plate without loosening the retaining bolt so you can't get them out. That is a safety feature...

great minds think a like ... I did the same thing at the same time. Good to know I could not repair the wheel cylinder without loosening it. Eases the pain ...

I have 2 complete redone front assemblies off of my 70 that nobody bought on Craigslist.
I'm in California though, and they are kinda heavy.

Man, I was Stationed at Travis AFB before my Uncle shipped me here. I have a friend that lives in vacaville, works at the Hospital on base.

Two of my cars are hanging out in So Cal with my parents until my next move (when and where that may be?)

I am strapped for cash, would you consider a trade? I could have my buddy pay for the shipping (he owes me) and I can send you a thank you gift?

I have not been able to bust that bolt loose yet, so It be great to have a back up plan on the way over from Cali.

I wish it was that easy, this is what it looks like when some meathead does not snap the pin off.

Tried lookig on all the websites of local parts stores, don't have any listing for wheel cylinder anchor bolt.

Group 5.055 PIN, Brake Shoe Anchor
Looks like 3841719 or 3840699 are the part numbers depending on HD brakes or not. The applications might help someone shake a used one loose. One number runs from 60-72 for the HD and the other 64-71.

Thanks for the info! Edwards CA, I miss the Desert! From 13 until I joined the service I lived in Hesperia/Victorville area. I tried searching the net with the name supplied on your document. Still no luck, good thing you all helped me out! At least I know what it is called now.

Any progress? Driving yet? If you still don't have the correct pin, go through the applications and make a list for possible source vehicles at the local pick and pull.

I have one. I have included a picture with measurements. I know there are two different lengths but I don't know what the reference is on them. From your picture it looks like you might have the long one....

If this is the right one PM me your addy and I will send it to you.

Defiantly an option, have to wait for a day when I don't have my kids with me to start looking.

Agreed, no matter where Uncle SAM sends me the forum is always near by and ready to help out. Hopefully I can get my old girl back on the road soon. I am still fighting to get the broken Anchor Pin off.

I will mail the one I have out in the morning. You should have it in a day or two. If you get more than one just pass it on...

Re: Am I SOL? Where to buy one of these?

I finally got the Anchor Pin broke loose. What a chore, I had to snap off the wheel cylinder and cut the bracket on top to get the penetrating oil into the anchor pin threads. It took a lot of heat 10 hours of oil soaking + 1 1/8 wrench + one BFH + dremel tool + chisel and about 10 hours of bad language but I did it.

As you can see from the picture the pin was destroyed in the process. The next time someone says "this 42 year old vehicle has 91,000 original miles" I'll have a different perspective on what that means!

Just think I potentially have three more to do ... are hobbies suppost to be fun?
