Ok time to start a build thread ... I just got all my engine stuff in got some pictures of it all .... I was originally going to put a 427 big block in it about 4 years ago but times got hard and money got scarce .... Also big block stuff is expensive .... So back to the drawing board and out comes my old 350 ... machine shops want to much for stuff I priced getting my old double hump heads reworked the cheapest I found was $600.00 for everything... So I just purchased a set of aluminum heads for $580.00 ready to bolt on... So far I have got about $1300.00 in all of my parts...

Better check the specs on the valve springs on those heads and compare it to what the cam manufacturer says you need.

With 254/264 duration @ .050" with 312/322 advertised duration that is a "fast moving" cam with aggressive ramps so you are going to need dual valve springs.

I hope your heads have at least 1.8" installed spring height, if it's set up for 1.7" or 1.75" you could run into clearance problems with .537" and .559" lift.

I'd recommend dual valve springs so you could do the initial cam break in with only the outer springs then after the cam and lifters are seated you could put in the inner springs and then after those springs are conditioned (went through a heat cycle) you will be ready to go. High pressure single springs make it hard to break in a cam unless you have a set of "break-in" springs that will handle that much lift. The springs on the heads now might serve as break in springs but I doubt they will handle that much lift. Don't expect that cam to live very long in any event, and worse yet if it and the springs are not broken in properly.

If those heads are 64cc, and the pistons flat top 4 valve relief, then you are about 10:1 compression. You could go with less cam but in any event make sure your heads will handle the lift and the springs will handle the aggressiveness of the cam ramps.

Yeah, with that cam, if you have power brakes, you will need more vacuum like an add-on pump or reservoir or both.

That cam, and that intake, you will also need like 3.73 or 4.11 rear gears and at least 2,800 RPM converter. You gonna race that thing?

Why is it that when you start posting stuff about your cam people automatically think " Oh this guy sure as heck don't have any idea of what he's doing....." Ok here goes the heads are 64cc chambers and yes it does have flat top 4 valve relief pistons with DUEL VALVE SPRINGS rated at .650 lift .... The rear is a 4:11 gear ratio... The trans is a 350 turbo automatic with a shift kit and a 2800-3200 rpm boss hog converter.... Honestly I have done this before .... We did a 355 flat top piston engine with stock vortec truck heads stock rockers and .500 lift springs for my dad's 1966 chevelle with the summit brand 1108 cam just one step under the 1109 that I have..... He drives it on the street with no issues .... Oh and it has the factory converter..... I think mine will be just fine... Ok I'm done......

Thanks the dog house I got for it is red tho ..... I'm thinking about going a little different with the colors still kinda keeping the blue and white but different like a dark blue and silver of gray here are the colors I am thinking of .... What do you think???

Thanks SCHRUMGMC I got some wheels nothing fancy old truck ralley wheels but done right the rear ones are 8" wide and the front ones are 6" wide.... I just have the front ones painted haven't got the back ones painted yet... Here is some pictures...

Ok does anyone have any options on a drive shaft mine is too far gone to use .... I'm looking to go cheap maybe something from another truck different year what ever might work with a 350 turbo transmission......... Thanks

Ok got a little bit done today just a little .... I found a parts truck so most of the day was spent stripping parts off .... but I got a automatic steering column and all the shifter linkage and a power steering box... all for 40 bucks.... Not to bad I don't think ... Here are a few more pictures of the ol girl...

Are you going to race it? Even if you were your cam and intake choice wont be very good in a heavy truck.. Not to mention driveability.

Otherwise she looks pretty good!

Ok I have decided not to cut any wires in the dash just yet... So I'm going to build a small fiberglass console to put all my small gauges and my shifter into... Just got my pistons and rods back from the machine shop tonight.... I'll post some pictures in the morning...

Ok got some more pictures for you guys..... I just got the bottom end of my engine put together and ran into a problem not with the engine but with some parts... I ordered head studs for it and just as I was getting ready to put them in... I got one with no threads on one side of one stud.... Not to worry I called the shop I ordered them from and a replacement is on the way... Here are a few pictures I couldn't resist sticking the heads and intake on just for fun...

That 1109 cam requires a minimum of 11 to 1 compression (which means running race gas even with aluminum heads) and a 4000 stall converter...as long as you have all that, it is gonna scream.

Your interior looks nice, I like the seat color with the blue paint.

thanks I decided to run a little dome piston it will put me around 10.72 its a Sealed Power Hypereutectic .125 Dome Piston and a 3200 stall since I'm going to drive it on the street....
