Ok experts, let's see some pictures of your 67-72 exhaust routing after lowering your truck. I have a 4" spring/shock drop from CPP in the rear with a 2" lowering block. Trailing arm suspension. It looks like I will need some ideas on routing over the axel or possibly out the side in front of the rear tire/wheel. Not much room left. Thanks for the help.

My truck is dropped 4" in the rear and 3" spindles in the front. I did not have trouble running full length headers and dual pipes out the side exiting in front of the rear tires.

I'm far from an expert, but here are some pics anyway. 3" exhaust, approximately 5/7 drop. I got the bright idea of welding some bracing on my rear frame rails, so I had to run my exhaust in front of the rear tire. I still have to make the 90* to turn it out, but at least you can kinda see what's going on underneath the truck.

Worked for me, cheap Thrush (Flow-Master rip-offs) $29.00 each, tranny cross member $79.00

Important notes: Mines a GMC with rear leaf springs, I still turned my 4" tips out the side in front of rear tires leaving lots of room for 21 gallon tank, bigger shocks and rear anti-sway bar.

I tried to take a few pictures but they are to shiny, maybe I'll try later in the day. With modded cross members any good muffler shop can do a great job keeping the exhaust system tucked in the frame, nothing hanging below until the exit. As 70blackfish recommended, and I've heard good things about, Morse Muffler in Burbank. Speedway Muffler in Upland does an outstanding job (did mine). Good shops will mock up a system for your review prior to final bending & welding. Expect to pay $400-500 here in SoCal for 2 1/2 inch aluminized with a great set of mufflers.

A-body (chevelles, etc) long tube headers will work if you don't want to run shorties. I'm running Hedman Chevelle big block headers on mine. Lots of threads on lowered trucks with headers on this site (the search function is your friend).

Here's how i did mine..Headman shorty headers..2 1/2 pipe above cpp tranny crossmember and through stock trailing arm crossmember..Truck is bagged!

Great question. I'm subscribing as I'm trying to decide what to do with mine when I get to that point. Mine currently dumps under the seat. Very loud and drone is awful around town!

My truck is bagged and the exhaust guy I used was able to get mine out the back. Has stock bed floor with no clearance issues.

That looks nice! My only concern is that I have the gas tank in the back. I don't want to run the exhaust too close to the tank. It might work, I haven't checked yet. I'm just a little skeptical right now. I'm going to have holes cut in the TA cross member for the exhaust to come through. I'll figure out the rest later. These ideas help a lot though. Thanks for sharing.

I am right there with you. I am installing a LMC tank right now and need to figure out where to run the exhaust now. It seems like a lot of newer factory cars run there exhaust right next to the gas tank. I am thinking about running my exhaust like 67ctener. It should be away from the tank enough to not have any heating issues.

Over transmission crossmember and through the trailing arm crosmember (your holes or buy ECE) is what you have to do to run exhaust right in a lowered (or any,IMO) truck. What headers you run and where it exits is up to you. It all works

My tank is in the cab so no issue there. I'd image with a heat shield you would have no worries running it next to the tank

Thanks for all the responses and pictures. They are a great help. Looks like I will need to make my own holes through the trailing arm crossmember, then run the pipes up and over the axel as close to the bed as possible.

On my sixty seven,we ran the pipes under the frame right behind the front control arms in the kick u.Then with them outside the framethey ran straight back with the mufflers in them.Then back in at the rear kick up and along the frame rails right straight out the back.It worked well and idin't hit anywhere but the truck was stock height.
Sorry,no pics the truck is 1200 miles away.
