Re: Horn in my truck
Hate to mention the word but Ford horns from the 70's were loud. I used them when I rewired my '46 Chevy truck and they were uber cheap junkyard horns.

Re: Horn in my truck
The PO put this Harbor Freight ooga horn in my truck, I think they are like $29. I have grown to like it . The kids love it and its loud without being obnoxious. (its at the lower right of the pic)

Re: Horn in my truck
One more vote for a set of Caddy horns if you want horns with a bit of authority. Some of the older ones had three horns with a relay while some of the mid 80's front wheel drive ones had two horns tucked under each front fender .

Re: Horn in my truck
Tractor trailer air horns, no compressor, my rear bumper is also an air tank. Fill it up once a month and no problems. Are they loud and obnoxious? Yep, and that's the way I like it.

Re: Horn in my truck
I got a set of horns from Harbor Frt for $14.00 that make plenty of noise. I see the exact same ones on EBay for twice what I paid. You do need a relay to use them.

Re: Horn in my truck
I have a set of these in my '55 Bel Air and they are great. Very loud and have a stock type sound. They are also light and compact.
I bought a 2nd set for my '57 truck but haven't installed them yet. http://www.amazon.com/85112-115db-500HZ-600HZ-Spor... |

Re: Horn in my truck
Roger,
For the $50 you get two horns in the box? I've been searching for a assigner side factory horn for my truck - I know they exist, because I've seen a few, but so far no luck. If anyone has one they want to get rid of, drop me a PM.

The description says 500Hz and 600Hz while the box says 400Hz and 500Hz. PIAA makes both. I have the 4&500Hz versions. Here's a link for the 4&500Hz: http://www.amazon.com/85110-115db-400HZ-500HZ-Spor... Last edited by roger55; 11-16-2014 at 02:37 PM. |
