Lowering gurus
I need help identifying the passenger side lower control arm on my 1999 GMC Sierra,2 wheel drive. None of the parts store near me have any clue. I'm guessing the arm is a drop.

Re: Lowering gurus
Thanks. Can you tell if it's a drop or oem height?
I've read good and bad things about DJM products. This lca broke loose from the front bushing.=(DisJointedMember) |

Re: Lowering gurus
Those are drop a-arms.
I had the uppers and lowers on my '99 silverado. I don't think DJM makes a standard height a-arm. I would put some stock a-arms on with drop spindles.

Re: Lowering gurus
I kind of want to go back to factory height but I don't/can't spend that much money on it right now. I can purchase a pair of DJM lower for the price of one oem lower. I may keep an eye out on Craigslist.

Re: Lowering gurus
Would anyone like to venture a guess of how much drop the lca is? Looks like the spring has one coil cut off. 20" wheels. Does the truck look like it has a 3/5 drop? How do you go about determining how much drop is in the arm?
I forgot to mention that the rear has shackles, not a flip kit and no c notch. Last edited by kingsolver72; 02-22-2016 at 04:06 AM. |

Re: Lowering gurus
This may be a bit trial/error, but from what I see on the arms....I would not purchase another set of them! If you want to keep the height, run a stock a arm/2"drop spindle. After that, you can trim the spring to fit the height that you need. Figure that 1 full coil , will be around 2 " of drop....Longhorn

Re: Lowering gurus
I have been wondering how many leaf springs the factory installed on these trucks. If the previous owner pulled a leaf then that changes things. Anyone know how many leaves/leafs there is supposed to be?

Re: Lowering gurus
Looks like 5 leaves per spring is factory. The truck has 3 leaves. The p.o. removed 2 leaves. Not sure how much that drops the rear end.

Re: Lowering gurus
Check rockauto.com they look to be about $85 and up plus shipping for new stock ones and I'm sure you could pick one up at a local junkyard for $40 to $50..
