C10 Nats pics - Fort Worth

Nice day for a truck show at TX Motor Speedway. Not much for sale and the swap meet was a total bust - but the trucks in the show were pretty nice. I did happen to notice that patina is still "in"... and it is still pretty easy to tell the fake patina from the real patina. One truck looked as thought the owner basically put on a blindfold and took a grinder to the whole body. No picture, wouldn't want to be negative But by and large, most of the stuff was pretty nice. Some of the highlights posted below - will take a few posts to get em all in. It truly was the C"10" Nationals - I can count on one hand the number of 3/4 tons I saw.

Neat backstory on this first one - it's is indeed a 70 Special Paint truck that was ordered new with Rally Green (a Camaro color). It lived as a farm truck and the owner got it from his dad who had it since almost new. You can see it was born as a long-fleet, but has since been converted to a short-stepper, but the original special paint color was repainted when redone. Was fun to chat with some of the great folks out there - this particular gent even sent me a pic of the truck before it was redone (pic 2).

The highlander was indeed a very original truck, enjoyed chatting with the owner on that one. It was a Pkg C Highlander.

Anyway, enjoy!

the camper was cool, still had its original V6. I'm not really a 2WD Blazer sorta guy, but this one was beautiful. Very nicely done

Re: C10 Nats pics - Fort Worth

The blue K10 was pretty popular. The green K10 is a member's truck - it's absolutely awesome. See it now and again at local shows.

Re: C10 Nats pics - Fort Worth

The LMC K10 was on hand (show was sponsored by LMC) and it's quite nice. The big dia rallies are NOT my cup of tea, but the craftsmanship on their flagship 72 was pretty sweet (you may recall this was built on "Chop, Cut, Rebuild")

Nice day for it for sure. Sorry I could not make it out there. Thanks for the pics. Sorry to hear swap meet was a bust but Pate probably put a damper on that.

I agree, it's poor timing to hold them both a week apart. FWIW, I went to Pate also, and walked for 5 hours - and kinda thought it was a bust too. I grabbed a couple minor things from Green's, but I see them at almost every show and can also just drive down to them without walking for 5 hours. The place was absolutely covered with scooters. And I don't mean older folks or injured or obese folks - that all makes sense and it's good to see them out enjoying the show - but I mean it seemed every kid and adult half my age had rented a rascal and were running my butt over with them, ha. Anyway, I thought Pate had mostly junk (but then again, I went Sat morning, and it started on Wednesday... so if it HAD any good deals, they were long gone). At least at the C10 Nats, it literally took 10 minutes to race thru the swap meet and there was nothing I needed, so I went back to the show. I figured there might be something in the swap meet because yesterday it rained hard all day. Oh well. Got to spend more time drooling over trucks.

Thanks for sharing pics. That burb is very nice. Pretty sure I was at the guys house and bought a bunch of parts from him in feb when I was down there. He was just finishing it up at that point. He also had a 72 shortbed 2wd and a blazer that were all equally as nice. Nice guy also...

Before ya'll go baggin on all the scooters...Just because I may look like a slightly overweight (yet sveltish) and goatee'd hunk, I've had double foot joint replacements and back surgeries as well. I can barely make it from the parking lot inside TMS, let alone walk the aisles. That's my electric trike in the first photo. It's a life-saver!

Not baggin on scooters, as stated in the very first post, glad to see folks out in them that may be injured and still want to come out and see the trucks. That's nothing new. What IS new is the number of teenagers or (apparently) healthy 30 year olds - that clearly have no injuries or any reason whatsoever to be on them than to goof around and run over my toe (i.e. I've seen them sprint from the scooter to the beer tent with no problems..). I also noticed a new trend, if one dude in a family of 10 needs one - they rented 10 and caravanned around together. Ha. That's actually kinda cool - a little family togetherness/solidarity, can't knock that. At Pate, I saw one kid - had to be about 6-8 yrs old, and he had that thing floored and was leanin on turns, dreaming he was on the high bank at Talladega I'm sure, which is all cool - but it was just way to crowded at Pate for the goofballing and sheer quantity of scooters. So, no, not baggin on scooters at all, have had several foot surgeries myself and I can feel your pain - I'm sure the time will come when I need one, I feel lucky to not need one now. So KEEP going to shows with the cool trike, please don't misinterpret - was only commenting on what seems to be a new "thing" at car shows lately and that is many, many more people renting the things and horsin around, that's all.

A buddy and I walked for nearly 7 hours at Pate last Saturday. There were a large number transportation devices in use, most of them looked just like yours and many had the wagon hitched. No baggin' here.

Remember the good old days in Cresson
It seemed that it always rained and was lots of mud
But they did seperate the chevys from the fords etc.

No problem Jocko...I shoulda used the winking eye or something on my post anyway since I do understand the problem. I missed Pate, but even at the Decatur swap meet the sheer quantity of golf carts makes is almost impossible to enjoy checking things out.

The blue k10 ithat you said was pretty popular is a guy from my hometown. The truck hasn’t been completed long. It’s a very nice truck. The same guy that did it is doing a c10 for me as we speak
