Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
According to my computer screen, it appears to have a color shift....lighter in the front - turning dark near back of cab/front of box.
Please tell us more about what is going on and what your thoughts are. Background? etc?

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
The shop i had my truck painted at had to repaint the bed due to issues with the paint. Originally the whole truck looked like the cab and now im dealing with two different shades. They are feeding me a line of bull saying it will fade over time and match the front. This trucks sits in the garage and i also didnt think paints these days fade.

It needs a complete paint job, unless they can match one of the two colors which is doable. Keep your cool, take it back and try to work out your best deal because going elsewhere for a proper fix will likely cost you far more. Good luck, keep us posted.

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
Now that you have before and after pics I can see what your talking about....I was thinking the darker bed was just shaded or reflection
If it was issues with paint related to something they did causing repaint, and the fact it doesn't match, I would say this is on them to make it right...

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
Hey dme922 what brand of paint is on the truck? Did the same painter paint both? So many things can make the same paint be off a bit like air pressure, temp, and number of coats.

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
Spraying candy needs to be done all at the same time , gun air pressure / humidity / temperature . # of coats all change the finished product . it's like when you see guys paint metallic on their truck doors while the doors are laying flat ,When mounted they will be 2 different colors . Tough spot to be in ,Have them respray all of it which probably won't happen , Learn to live with it , And stop telling everyone ,Most will never notice .
I'd add lower chrome mouldings ,That would break up the large panels and attract the eye to the chrome .and look good too !

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
I have already let them know and they are trying to convince me that it will fade and match the cab. I call bs on that. I have a lot of money in this paint job and its hard to be satisfied with the nonsense i have been through with these people.

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
To add a little more to the history of this paint issue it all started with the original bed sides that were in great shape. After i first got it back (three years ago) the bed sides started getting what the b/s called solvent pop. So they said it would buff out. That failed to work. Then they agreed to repaint the bed and it matched great but had the same issue within two weeks. After this they tell me that the bed sides metal was contaminated and the only fix would be new bed sides. Which i also call b/s. Anyhow i bought new bed sides and the paint job looks great but now the mismatch colors. All this being said, these bed sides come pre primered black and if he didnt seal it with the lighter grey sealer as he did the whole truck before would that cause this issue?

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
primer color can affect the final paint color...
solvent pop is a issue they created...new bed sides wernt needed I don't think.... copied this... Solvent popping causes Solvent pop is caused when too much paint is applied or coats are applied on top of each other too quickly. When this is done, gases from the reducer from the lower portion of the clear, are trying to escape, but they are trapped because of the paint thickness or the coat that was applied on top of it, thus creating the bubbles known as solvent pop.

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
Well i took my truck to the b/s today and their paint rep looked at it and told me that the bed paint would fade in match the cab within six months. Which i feel is total bs. Then they basically told me i was screwed. Eventhough i have a warranty in writing that clearly states it covers workmanship. Which i would think matching paint would be covered under this warranty but one of the painters was trying to say that the warranty only covers the stuff like peeling and so forth not paint matching. This is unreal.

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
It sounds like if they can’t dazzle you with their work they’re going to baffle you with their BS, if the paint is going to fade in six months they must’ve really used a quality product, and they think the cab won’t fade at the same rate LMAO. It sounds like all you can do now is hope it screws up again. I have found solvent pop happens when the wrong reduce was used and it happens right away not three years down the road

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
Take it back in 6 months when it doesn't match and tell them to do it again. Solvent pop can not come from the metal. If it was stripped to start with and the surface properly prepped then any solvent pop was from layers applied too soon and not allowed to flash sufficiently. Is this a 3 stage or candy color? If not they could have blended into the door and re cleared it. You'd never see the difference then. More stages or candies can be very difficult to match or blend.

Re: Can you see the problem with my paint?
My bet is they contaminated the original bed when they stripped it, the second time they didn’t strip it and painted over there mess. you’re probably right they put it over the black bedside because they got the color right this second time.
