Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
Pic for Randy. Also curious if anyone else still has these on a pickup. Seemingly seldom seen like the wire clip retaining the power steering hoses.

Re: Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
Neat little factoid Pete.
The k20 i just bought has the spring too, just on the left side. I noticed it right away, and to me it looked factory. I thought about it and wondered why i had never seen one before. Will post a picture of mine later. |

Re: Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
Please do. Wonder how difficult sourcing or producing replacements would be. The cowl flapper springs were redone so I’m sure these could be as well if there’s enough interest.
Now I’m curious if these were in use on 2wd as well as 4wd.

Re: Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
I believe that when I replaced the rear brake hose a couple of years ago, it was the first replacement. I never saw a spring, but it could have been removed. Someone monkeyed with the axle vent setup, so anything could be possible.

Re: Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
I restored a one owner, 1972 K20 with 60,000 plus original miles on it years ago (Dantip now owns it). This truck had springs on the left and right side ebrake cables. Looked original to me. They were stretched and worn out, so I wasn't able to reuse them. A few pics from the tear down...

Re: Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
OK, the springs are on the parking brake cable, not the hose. That makes more sense.

Good point. He didn't mention he was only interested in leaf spring 2wd trucks, but I was wondering about that also.

Re: Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
Good point. A leaf spring specific application for these seems reasonable.

Re: Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
My 67 2wd 1/2 ton with leafs didn't have them. Now they could have been removed but the truck was pretty much original and rusty. The spring would Maybe be shorter ona 2wd?

I don't know what the size of that spring is but it looks similar to the clutch fork tension spring except there are more coils on the brake spring. These are available from the parts vendors. LockDoc

Re: Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
My son in law set the body off his 72 K10 Suburban this week. He was asking me today if I had ever seen those springs because the Suburban has them. I haven't. My K10 didn't have them. Ill look at my Longhorn.

My 1972 GMC k10 SB still had those springs. It was a all original truck. I will try and find pics of springs.

Re: Anyone else have this OEM rear brake hose retention spring?
Pete, he would let me have them. He is building an LS powered Suburban so he can take liberties.
The spring.
