What this #2

I need to R&R my broken antenna. Found some good threads on this site...TYVM.
Started looking at the truck, found cardboard in between the fender and inner panel. Same was found on the driver side as well.

Thanks again...Don.

Re: What this #2

Fender seal for noise reduction. Only found on 72 full load trucks IIRC.

That is the 1967-72 Front Fender Dust Shields Part # 998215

They are attached to small metal brackets by using brass staples. The brackets themselves are not reproduced only the dust shields. Ours include 3 pieces per side = 6 total pieces and the required brass staples that are needed to install them onto the original metal brackets. Found on the following page of our website

Aren't those provided with the CST option? My '70 has them. I'm going to go and look for those other items in A1971Blazer's picture.

Do you have any sort of assembly instructions? I cannot find them anywhere. Will purchase another set they are included.

Re: What this #2

I believe these are standard for Z84 and YE9 (i.e. CST/Cheyenne and Cheyenne Supers - assume same is true on equivalent GMC trim levels).
EDIT: would like to confirm whether these were on Z84 in all years - or does anyone have these on a 71+ Z84 Cheyenne?

Re: What this #2

A reminder to get mine on. It seems when my 72 Cheyenne went through it's work from the previous owner they did not put these back on and it annoys me.

I bought a set off the forums awhile back but the seals (felt?) need to be replaced. Which that doesn't look like fun. But my biggest problem (for me) is that I am pretty sure you need to remove the fenders and then everything else to get them off... thus the parts are in my attic - aka deep storage!

I am interested in updated information when someone replaces their seals onto the brackets. Heck I'd love to see a video on that and then getting them installed properly!

Re: What this #2

While looking for something else, I found this in the Chevy 67-72 assembly manual.

Though I am not to sure what that "spacer" is about near the top of the seal (item 3).

Re: What this #2

Hey Greg,

Having the photo's you have wouldn't hurt that's for sure - no reason to be sorry about not having more photos. As for the "spacer collar" going into the seal hole - that makes perfect sense to me. I am now convinced that is how it worked with the spacers.

I have now pretty much convinced myself that I only have one original screw - the one that had the rusted collar on it. Thinking about it how I had to pull it off it was: Screw, Spacer, Seal, and a broken bit of the pillar keeping it all rusted together.

I have on my '72 Cheyenne. Like others mentioned this was included in that extra sound deadening for Cheyenne/Super...perhaps the CST had them.

I can vouch that the aftermarket replacements are junk.
