Re: Cool '72 Dually on ebay

Hey,I`m x2.Another thing to keep in mind is with the tool & stowage compartment the fenders couldn`t be longer. So,between the upper moulding at the top and stowage door in front, those were the proportions required.67_C30s truck looks great. He used actual fenders in the proportions we`re all used to,no moulding, and no stowage door.Sometimes you gotta look for the reason, then it makes sense.I also believe those could be aftermarket for dual wheel conversions.JC Whitney and others sold such things.I`ve seen a blue truck with the same fenders and (I believe) I`ve seen others in the past.
If anyone has owned a dual wheel pickup,I think you`d find a way to like that narrow track over a factory-like job.(I`m not knockin`67_C30`s truck).

Re: Cool '72 Dually on ebay

I think it looks perfect! Honestly I think the biggest issue with all of the " I like it and I hate it " is that since the General never made a 67 72 dually with a pick up bed we all use our imagination to picture what it should look like if it was produced... We all know we all have different imaginations and tastes! There are so many things that people take the time, money and effort to build that I just look at and say.... Why??? But its what they like and thats all that matters! Beauty is in the eye of the builder...

im guessing it was made for show and not go. i don't think a 700r4 has any business being in a one ton, but thats just my opinion. on the positive side though, i love those alcoa dually rims.

If GM built one, it should have looked like this (belongs to 68GMCDUALLY):

Re: Cool '72 Dually on ebay

Some guys have learned that those two tires and fenders hanging out there are a big pain, including me.I really like 68GMCDually`s truck,67_C30`s,and others like that. But,there`s two ways to do it.For a towing workhorse I`d prefer the wide track for the added stability, the purpose of dual wheel pickups. You have a trailer to worry about making the fenders not so bothersome.Prolly have the mirrors wide, too. So if the mirrors fit you know the fenders will(there are exceptions, though).
These narrow rear trucks look awesome with the tires tucked under the truck. You are still better off with towing and get a bit more track than a single wheel. The dual wheels still add more capacity so they make sense as well.
If you are just doing it because you think it`s cool,do whatever tickles your fancy.

I don't think the step side fenders look right to me. My opinion!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Cool '72 Dually on ebay

Wouldn't it have been a pain to get the trim on the fenders? would it wrap around the front and back or just on the side?

Re: Cool '72 Dually on ebay

I think if im not mistaken its a dual axle and from a flet bed or I have seen city trucks that are duallys but both wheels dont stick out if you look at the red truck the fenders are covering the wheels fine and on the purple or whatever color it is it has wide fenders but stock wheels and the fenders are in the correct width for the wheels before I duallied my sub I ran into all of this I just thought a dually axle was a dually but they differ. I bought a 79 dually welding truck for 500.00$ with a dana 60/70 combo I couldnt afford what guys were asking for the 60 alone so I finally got lucky and got both...just my two cents...I like em both... local13hutch...

Re: Cool '72 Dually on ebay

There is a co. here in cali that makes fiberglass fenders that are already contoured and they are real thick and high quality they look like steel they come real narrow stock width and they make a set that is 3.5 " wider than stock I guess for hot rods but my dually is a 4x4 and I run 36" tires with a 4" spacer between them so my wheels now stick out about 3 or 4"so I am going to buy some wide ones when I scrap my 86 body and put my 72 sub on the frame if any body is interested ill get the name of the guys who make them they also make a dually conversion kit for just about anything out there ...I know cumminspwr11 was inquiring about this so pm me or whatever.....local13hutch.....
