Does parts from a van fit my truck?
I need parts for my truck, but here in Sweden vans are more common. I want to know what parts I can salvage from the numerous vans you can find at salvage yards. Right know I want to know if the windshields are the same?
I also need switches for the power windows. I´m looking forward to get some good accurate info from you guys out there. My truck is a 1981 Silverado. |

I'd guess yes on switches, but no on a windshield. Try a parts source/store that supplies the thing, and see if the numbers match.

I read in some forum that the windshields matched between 89 trucks and vans.

Ikind of doubt that a Volvo c30 has the same windshield. I will try to find out if it is baloney or not. |

Re: Does parts from a van fit my truck?
Possible the Volvo C30 was a re-badged GM/Chevy. GM imported a lot of non-US vehicles and put GM family badges on them. Don't know why the reverse couldn't have happened.
Even if it isn't an exact match, might be worth doing a comparison. Might be cheaper to modify your truck to take a van windshield then import the correct one. It will be hit and miss on parts compatibility. Before the supply dried up, I frequently got parts for my 75 C10 from the GM car section of the local pull-a-part. Rare to find a 70~80s car in the yard these days. Might be easier to swap over the entire switch panel instead of trying to make one switch fit. |

Rock Auto is good for finding what parts swap. Either click on the part number to see what it fits, or look up the item for each vehicle and see if it returns the same part numbers

Re: Does parts from a van fit my truck?
The windshield is definitely not the same. Any Chevy/GMC truck windshield from 1973 to 1987 (1991 for Blazer and Suburban) will fit.
