Exhaust spatter
Anyone else have this happen with their truck? Or have any ideas why this is coming out of the exhaust? My truck is running great no problems that I know of, but I hope if this is a sign that something is wrong I can fix it before it does any damage.

Re: Exhaust spatter
I think its just water cleaning out the dirt in your exhaust... just frozen by the time it gets to the back.

Re: Exhaust spatter
Rich mixture when you start it, and then there is condensed water in the cold tailpipes until it warms up. Looks normal to me.

Re: Exhaust spatter
That's it exactly. Carbon from a rich mixture and water vapor condensing in the cold tailpipes. If your choke is set correctly and it's not running rich once it warms up, there's really nothing to fix.

Re: Exhaust spatter
Heh, I remember driving an old Corvair through the parking lot to the truck and tractor shop over the snow in the mid-'70s in Idaho, and it leaving a nasty oil trail on top of the snow.
