FNG in Michigan needs some answers/help

My name is Jason and I inherited my Grandfather's old '86 C-10. I'm actually a Jeep guy (1999 TJ, 2004 KJ) but I couldn't pass on picking up the chevy. It needs some work since it has been sitting outside for the last 5 years and not driven at all.

Long story short, it had the origional 4.3L ripped out and a 305 put in but kept the stock tranny (3speed auto) and radiator. The truck runs, but it seems like it doesn't have any power. Its got Eidelbrock 4bbl carb & intake and borla exaust but no balls...

My question is what kind of tranny would some of you experts recommend replacing the stocker with? TH400? 350? Is the V6 radiator going to work well enough with the 305 or am I going to have to worry about overheating problems?
