Hauling the k5 back,ideas?

I'm planning to (unless something goes wrong) haul the k5 back from Kentucky Friday afternoon. It's over a 3 and 1/2 hour drive each way there and some of that is interstate driving.I'm using a Silv 2500 with the duramax to tow the 20' gooseneck trailer but that isn't the part that concerns me.The k5 has the windshield frame cut out and windshield removed. So,hauling it home as-is on the trailer concernes me as the wind could go in where the windshield would be and start to push the top off after I get going.I think I can get a few bolts or screws or what ever holds the top on in it to hold it some but also planned to use some c-clamps and a few tie downs.Should I be concerned about bringing it home like this or tie it down and go?Should I bring a windshield and try to get it in place to help?I suppose I could always remove the hatch to allow the air to flow through it easier...
Any ideas?
