shut off switch

I moved my battery to the rear of the truck using one of cpp battery stainless drop out box. I just ordered one of the push off switches and was wondering how you guys get the alternator to shut off. I haven't wired the switch yet. If you take wire from alternator to the load side of the switch everything will still run off the alternator. And if you take it straight to the battery or the line side of the switch, the alternator will stay energized from the battery even though switch is in off position. Was just wondering if they make a switch that the alternator will attach to. And was wondering how all these cars are getting away with these type of switches when nhra says all power to the whole car must shut off when shut off switch is off.
