Question 1950 GMC Houston Texas-New to ol'school GM's-

Hi all, Joey here, live from Houston Texas. My pal is into the old school GMC pick ups, Chevy's too. We are going to fix up the red 1950 GMC p/u he got last week. Currently, most of the electrical system is still 6 volt, but has the one-wire GM Alternator already on it. The truck is not all that great behind the shiny red paint. Wiring is real shyte, real shyte! I am suprised it did not catch on fire or short out! Not one butt connector nor a single piece of electrical tape to be found. So, experianced ones out there, what do we need to get to convert this over safely? What parts need to be changed out to suite to 12 volt conversion?
